Norfolk / Re: Weavers of Palgrave
« on: Friday 11 October 19 21:16 BST (UK)  »
Just a note to say that leaving Diss Norfolk and entering Palgrave Suffolk is hardly noticeable.  It amused me alot to go from home in Suffolk to buy milk from Diss in Norfolk. Well worth looking in both counties in my opinion.
There used to be a fine house in Palgrave called Weavers Mark, a short walk from the village primary school. Coincidence maybe but perhaps a family link there.

Can't see who wrote this so cant say hello. But if you are tracing Gray family, the states connection is interesting, I know my father was invited to the states by family out there to work, luckily he turned it down and luckily met my mother!

Hello Nikki
It's true there are so many names I have to remind myself as I forget too.
The names you mention and the painting however I know I have been told are distant relations a few times now. There is a good website that gives in great detail many names, Barron and Heron in particular, where a woman has done a lot of research.  I will see if I can recall it.  What are the most recent dates you have? I can talk to some the family.

Hello F
I'm not sure how or if I can help, I did start researching my family tree a while ago to find out for how many generations we have been Romany Gypsies but stopped looking to have baby 4 and 5 and to be honest just don't have time.   I have the photos mentioned and I will search for them, do you have an email address?
If you don't mind me asking how have you found out who and how your relatives are ?  Did you know the Grays or Smith from Norfolk?  Stanley & Clara?  If yes, how ? they were my grandparents.

Hello An65
Thanks for your reply, it is an amazing discovery, I started looking in 2007 for my family, I feel so lucky to have have this opportunity, after such a long time I had forgotten my post on here.
I have spoken to an aunt of mine and she has confirmed everything Lillymoon has said, we are indeed 2nd cousins, and never met before.  So anyone looking, never give up. Gray girl
I will try to  mail you now

Hi Lila
I thought that might happen with the email, it's for the best really I suppose.
We also went to Cambridge fair, infact even went last year. I have an uncle  Maurice, and I remember visiting a man called Wally (Walter??)  it's hard sometimes to know who is who because  most people were known by more than one name and nickname!  Anyway I hope we get email sorted and we can talk more, it's exciting to think we could be related!!!

Hi Lillymoon,
Thanks for your reply, its good to hear from you.  From what you've said, there are similarities in names, which is tradition.    My name is Genty after Clara, again spelling varies, from birth register and christening records.   One of her boys, my uncle is Verdi.  If we are talking about the same family, it's possible we've met (maybe).  You said you met Clara when you were younger, can you (do you mind?) saying when you met.  Here's my email if you want to talk about this any more.
