Hi Jo.
Thanks again for all the  help you have given me,I never imagined I would get a response like this when I posted that request then asked you the question about Baptist records, I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate it. You have sent me so much information that I know I could not possibly have got without you and I mean that.

Hi Jo.
Thanks again! St Marys sounds like a C of E doesnt it? I will have to look the Church up on the Amersham site. I wonder whether they had to marry in a 'Proper' church back then. I do not know much at all about the Baptist faith, at this rate I had better start learning eh?

P.S
I have just realised you gave me a James born 1833 in Amersham yet on the 1851 census the James there is 11 yrs old so bn abt 1840 in Beaconsfield. Perhaps the first James died.

Hi Jo.
Thanks again, this is definately the family. I did not even know about Emma, I got the family names and ages from the 1851/61 census.
It looks as if only Ephraim, William and Emma were born in Amersham, the rest as follows state Beaconsfield as a birthplace
Ann    bn abt 1839
Henry      abt 1837
James       "   1840
George      "  1842
Thomas     "  1847
I did not know Catherines maiden name or their marriage date, thankyou for that.
I descend from Thomas the youngest child of James and Catherine.
By 1851 James is a Baptist minister in a chapel at Hillingdon Middlesex and in 1861 he is ministering ( if that's the right word ) in Dymchurch in Kent. James and Catherine stayed in Kent till they died at a ripe old age.
I was suprised when I sent for Thomas's and my G.Grandmothers Marriage cert to see Thomas had put his Fathers profession as Baptist Minister as he married G.Gran in a Church of England in Paddington, London. It has been interesting tracing them though and now I am so far advanced thanks to your help.
The Ainsworths are my Maternal ancestors and I could not believe it when it turned out that Jemima Climpson was also from Amersham as she is my Paternal G.G.Grandmother. To think I used to take my Children to Beaconsfield many years ago to the model village there and did not even know then that my G.Grandad was born there. This hobby does throw up some suprises doesn't it?
Many thanks again for your help Jo. I have plenty extended family to find now eh?
Best Wishes
Jeanette

Hi Linclass.
I don't know what to say except thank you so much! I have been trying to find this information for so long and just like that you give it to me, I really am so grateful to you.
James was my G.G.Grandfather and he went on to be a Baptist Minister, he also named some of his sons after his Brothers it seems.
Thankyou again
Regards

Thank you both for your help.
I looked at the 1851 census for 'JIMIMA'S' brothers from the info you sent Koromo and I am almost certain this is the right family. Two of her brothers are in the Marylebone/Paddington area same as Jemima in 51.  and the third is in Chesham lodging with a family. I looked at the free B.M.Ds and there was a Mary CLIMPSON died in Amersham in 1844, no birth date was given for her but if it was their Mother that would account for them all moving away between 1841 and 51, I will have to send for her death cert.
Lincslass, when you suggested the other Climpson family you said they were in the meeting house registers? Would that be the Baptist Lower meeting house in Amersham? If so can I ask where you found that info please as my Ainsworths also came originally from Amersham and I have been unable to find any baptist records at all for the family apart from one of my G.G.Grandfathers sisters on the I.G.I and John Ainsworths and Dorcas Beamsley's marrriage on Ancestry.com
I would love to be able to find any other Brothers and Sisters G.G.Grandfather  might have had.
Thanks again both of you for all your help

Hi Koromo.
Thank you so much, I do think this must be her. I had a look at the image and I can see that it is 'Jimima' And her age is in the female column so how the transcriber made it James is a mystery.
Maybe her Father Joseph was dead, this would not be the first marriage cert where that fact was not mentioned, Jemima could not read or write so I do not suppose she knew what was written.
Thank you again for your help, I was pulling my hair out!

Buckinghamshire / CLIMPSON Family

I wonder if some-one could please help me.
I have a Jemima Climpson bn abt 1834. I have found her in Marylebone London from 1861 and she puts her birthplace on  the census as Chesham. I have searched the 1841 census for Chesham Bucks but cannot find her, her Fathers name is Joseph Climpson on her Marriage cert.
The only other thing is that on the 1851 census for Marylebone there is a Jemima Clemston. ( to be honest the original image looks like Climpson to me )working as a servant and she states her birthplace as Hammersham ( Amersham? ) Bucks. The age is about correct but I can not find Jemima in either Chesham or Amersham in 1841.
Has anyone come across a Jemima Climpson with a Father Joseph please.
Thanks
Kes
