Does anyone have any information on a marriage of John g h Gourlay to miss Newbrook in Whitchurch in 1946 or their children. I'm researching Gourlays and believe they are connected. Thanks in anticipation

Can anyone add anything to http://fifegourlay.tribalpages.com

Would love to find a sibling of James (~1800 - 1866)

Hi all

I'm stuggling with events prior to 1855 and wonder if anyone can help

I have a death certificate in 1866 in Kilconquhar for James Gourlay (lets call him James 2) who is shown as 63. His birth year is different according to 1841 & 1851 census

I cant find James's 2 birth - Can you help ?

His death certificate gives his parents as James (lets call him James 1) and Christina (Nee Pearson)  who I believe married in1797

I have James 1 & Christina as 66 & 70 years old on 1841 census
I then have James 1 as 80 on 1851 census
I believe therefore Christina may have died between 1841 and 1851

I cant find the death of James 1 which I believe is between 1851 and 1861 ( if after 1855 should confirm his parents ??)

They may be James and Margaret Lyell or could be Thomas and Margaret Webster

Can anyone help or give pointers on pre 1855 events

Thanks
John

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Anyone going to Nat Arch in Kew?
« on: Sunday 04 November 07 07:32 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to track John Gourlay, born in Fife 1832 who appears on the 1851 census in Portman Barracks, Marlebone as found by Joe at http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,244491.0.html

Meliora tells me at http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,262008.0.html
that records held in Kew could help

I'm up North and not likely to get to Kew any time soon

If anyone is going and has any spare time I'd be very grateful for anything they can establish

Regards
John

I appear to have made a mistake, James and Eric are not part of the same family.

The death certificate shows him as Frank Gourlay

His sister Agnes must have married a James Dickson, Motherwell as he witnessed the death

Does anything here ring any bells

John
