A Newspaper Obituary Index on Ancestry states he died 11/1/1975.

As has been said, find the birth entry for your Mum or Dad (whichever is her child as well as any of their siblings) and this will state her maiden name  (or not).

At the moment the most likely death would appear to be the one in Bexley.

One step at a time.

The twins are coming on fine - completely different nature's as I've mentioned before.   They finish at pre-school next month and start at the 'big school' in September (not 5 until December).  Mum now buying school uniforms.   Gulp!    Where has the time gone?   Macy is very much a fashionista and chooses what she want to wear each day.  How she'll cope with wearing a uniform every day I don't know.

I see them every Wednesday and I'm currently knitting clothes for their dolls.

Coincidences!

I am going to Stalbridge on 6th July with my sister and brother in law where we will be staying with my cousin and her husband who live there.  They moved there when their only son who was in the army then married a Dorset girl and settled in Shillingstone.  With no real ties to keep them in Suffolk they moved down to Dorset so they could see more of their 2 grand daughters.

The first time my brother in law visited them said he wanted to visit Milborne Port which he'd discovered was just over the border in Somerset.   I'd previously done his family tree and some of his ancestors are buried there.   We all trooped out to the churchyard one day and were lucky enough to find their graves.   He was delighted as you can imagine.

Most people outside of Dorset have never heard of Stalbridge so to see it mentioned here has brought up lots of lovely memories with, no doubt, more to be made in July.

Mystery man Levi Walton, probable son of Joseph Walton?

What details do you have for Levi Walton?

I am descended from William Edward Lion Elliston born 1847 who had an adult baptism in 1884 as Robert William Lyon Elliston.

These 2 were brothers and definitely 2 separate individuals!!

Robert William Lyon Elston, mmn Lock, birth Mar.qtr.1846 West London
William Edward Lion Elliston, mmn Lock, birth Jun.1847 West London
Charles Edward Elliston, mmn Lock, birth Sept.1849 West London.

In 1851 the 3 brothers were visitors residing in Cheshunt.

Robert William Lyon Elliston baptised 1884 as an adult was surely the eldest of these 3 brothers   and not William Edward Lion Elliston as you are stating? i.e. you descend from Robert not William.  I can find no trace of William after 1851 so don't know what became of him.

1841 Census Colchester, Albion Court St Botolph's

Thomas Pickess  22     not born in county
Harriet               30     not born in county
Harriet                0  mmn Reeves

Was Harriet his wife a widow ?

According to familysearch Harriet Nelson (nee Reeve) was a widow when she married Thomas Pickess in 1840 (Dedham) but can't find a marriage between a Harriet Reeve and a man surnamed Nelson.

Mary Pickess, widow, dau. of Thomas Garwood did indeed marry James Garwood, widower, son of Samuel Garwood on 30/7/1848 but the marriage took place at Colchester. St. Mary not Dedham.

I agree with Kay99 that her baptism was indeed the one for Mary Ann Garrad at Stratford St. Mary in 1799.  (Her parents Thomas and Sarah buried as Garwood, he 14/7/1836 Dedham and she 13/5/1845 Dedham).

Thomas Garwood shown bc.1769 and Sarah (nee Banham) bc.1770.  Thomas (as Garrood) was bp.24/4/1771, son of John and Martha and Samuel bp.2/12/1763, son of John and Martha, both at Dedham so Mary and 2nd. husband James Garwood were indeed cousins.

Hello again

Spent a lovely day with my niece yesterday (and the twins after pre-school) and was invited to stay for evening meal (homemade fish and chips).  Darcy did the table plan and I was to sit between both the girls which was fun (ish)!  Went to Matalan in afternoon where I returned a jumper I'd ordered online for a refund.  Have gone down 2 dress sizes in last 2/3 years and now a size 14. According to their website size Medium was for sizes 14-16 so that was what I ordered.  However, it was huge and not acceptable.  Couldn't check the smaller size as my local store only now has all their summer stock displayed (it's only February for heavens sake). Bought both the girls a small toy which they played with for the rest of the day.

The girls are doing well in their new Saturday classes (Macy ballet and Darcy football).   The ballet class is having a show in July which Macy is very excited about (obviously has no conception of how far away that is) and Darcy has been asked to play for their infants team which is called Wildcats - seems appropriate as surname is Wilder!  Attach a photo taken after their respective lessons last Saturday - both look tired, bless them.   They have long hair which was suitably tied up for their activities so not the best photo of them.

As to the bins - I live in a block of 10 flats and we have a large black one for general waste, a large blue one for recycling, 2 small brown ones for garden waste (leaves, grass cuttings, etc.) which are emptied 2 weekly.  We also have a small red one for glass which is emptied periodically.  It seems that for next financial year we are going to be charged £75 per annum for emptying the brown bins.

Best wishes to all.

Annette
