The Lighter Side / Re: When you find an error on someone else's tree, do you tell them?
« on: Thursday 21 February 13 17:16 GMT (UK)  »
I found out that someone (in the USA) had copied a photo of my Gt uncle who had died in WW1 to their tree, different name.

When I contacted them they apologised and explained that they thought my relative looked like a really nice guy and as their ancestor had been in the RFC they thought it would be nice to 'humanise' him and give a face to him!  They did delete it though.

Lancashire / China and Glass Merchants, Barton Arcade, Manchester
« on: Tuesday 19 February 13 19:56 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find a relative who worked for H.G. STEPHENSON at Barton Arcade, Manchester., in the late 1950's.
He was a commercial traveller for the company.
Am hoping to find other members of staff who worked there at the same time ~ A long shot, I know!
As he might still be living I don't want to print his name here on the internet.

Fingers crossed!

Many thanks Carol for the photo, much, much clearer! I have scanned it on a larger resolution but don't think it would upload to the site.  I can now see that they are younger than I first thought and maybe she had just had a baby?.... but then again they are both a bit on the tubby side  ;)

China ~ you are spot on!! Have just discovered that this photographer's studio was in Batley from 1893 - 1899!

Thanks very much ladies  :-*

I think I have posted this in the wrong place  ???

I think this is a cabinet card photo?

I'm trying to date the couple so I can identify them in my Parr family tree.

I hope the file is big enough!

Many thanks in advance  :D

Lancashire / Re: LIVERPOOL COWKEEPERS
« on: Sunday 19 April 09 00:25 BST (UK)  »
My Grandfather Thomas Mawer was a cowkeeper at 3 Dalton Street, near to where the Royal Liverpool Hospital is now.

His family originally came from Lancashire/Yorkshire border area, apparently there were quite a lot of them in Liverpool, West Derby area.
