I'm Brian and so's my wife!

It's amazing how many are related. I was looking for the maternal grandparents of my paternal grandmother - my great aunt said that her mum, Mary Connelly, had come from Galway, Ireland and that there was a small social issue with her religion. She emphasised the surname was pronounced "Con-NEE-Lee"  - I've been unable to find anything on her.

Visiting newly found relatives one told me he had problems joining the military when he was younger, when asked why he was cryptically told, "Find out who your grandmother's uncle was". He believes it's James Connolly. Is there a family tree around that would show nieces? This would be a great help finding Mary Connolly's family.

Hi Floky,

Your grandfather was a friend of my grandparents out in Mombasa.  When my dad died, who was born in Nairobi, I found this photo of Ewart in the few photos he brought with him from the UK. Unfortunately the original was lost but not before being scanned in.  Have you seen this before?

Steve

United States of America / Searching for an unknown mom.

For a friend with a terminal illness I've been searching for the past few years for the mother of a Barnett Bieber b. 29/8/1935 New York, Metropolitan Hospital NYC #21510.  Unfortunately I've just been told she's only got a few week left to live and I'm very keen to find info for Barnett's mum who they've never seen and know nothing about.

Bob's father, my great uncle, Jacob Bieber, born New York 6 September 1912, died age '98 in Southampton, UK in 2009 followed by his wife (my maternal grandmothers twin sister) Kay Bieber (nee Smith born 1914, Walton On Thames) last year.

Jake Bieber had a son born real name Arthur James Farrell 29/8/1935 whose mother was, allegedly, a young prostitute maiden name listed as (*)Buckley age 19 at birth.  This was her second child I understand.   Arthur James father was listed as James Arthur age 21.

Jake took Arthur James Farrell away from the mother and unofficially renamed him Barnett Bieber after Jake Bieber's father (b. 1868 Austria).   Arthur James Farrell changed his name to Barnett Bieber on July 7th 1952 which was approved Dec 1952.

If anyone can help finding information or a contact for (*) Farrel (nee Buckley) age 19 in 1935 I'd very much appreciate it.

If you don't have any luck there is a group on Facebook called Kenya Friends Reunited.  Someone there invariably helps with advice about marriage, death certs etc issued in Nairobi.

My father left Kenya in the 1990's with very few of the family photos.  This one of Ewart was one of them, and the only photo of him in the collection.  I know very little about Ewart but for one reason and another he's come to be of interest. Unfortunately the originals were later destroyed leaving only some low resolution scans.  Is this a photo you've seen before?

I'll drop you a PM with the details!

All the best,

Steve

That is a amazing.  Thank you for the replies.  I searched but couldn't find any results, I really must be doing something wrong, now I know he exists I'll go back again. Thanks again everyone.

edit - I really shouldn't reply before the morning mug of coffee.  I didn't think of changing the name to Holley - think I've tracked down relatives on facebook and have approached them.  Thanks again.
