US Lookup Requests / Edith M Hancock Born 1887 Lakawanna, Pennsylvania, USA
« on: Tuesday 02 April 13 16:07 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I don't know if anyone would be able to help me or point me the right direction please.

I am trying to find out what the "M" stood for :  EDITH M HANCOCK

Edith was born 1887 in Lakawana her parents were Aaron Hancock (born 1855 in Blaenavon, Monmouthshire, Wales) and Emily Hancock (nee Steed).

They did not remain in the USA but returned to Wales.  Aaron was certainly back in Wales by 1890 and we think Emily had died.

I wondered if there were any birth records for Edith.

I am trying to track Edith later in life (after 1901) but unfortunately there are a number of Edith M Hancocks in Monmouthshire, Wales, and I need to know I am tracking the right person.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks.

Monmouthshire Lookup Requests / Edith M Hancock ?Marriage

Hi

I wondered if anyone could help or steer me in the right direction please.

Looking for any information after 1906 for the following:-

Edith M Hancock born 1887 in Lakawana, Pennsylvania, USA

Father was Aaron Hancock (orginally from Blaenavon) and mother Emily Ann Steed.

They returned to Wales.

Emily died and Aaron remarried - Rachel Williams in 1890.

In 1901 Edith was living at 10 Bryn Terrace, Blaenavon, with her grandmother Eliza Hancock.

If there was any information on a marriage for Edith that would be really helpful.

Many thanks.

Lancashire / Smith Family, West Derby, 1911

Hi

Just wondered if anyone had any connection to the following:-

In 1911 the family lived at 77 Cameron Street, West Derby, Liverpool.

Frederick Smith Age 37 in 1911, born Edingale, Staffs/?Derbyshire, he was a Police Constable
Mary Smith Age 31 in 1911, born St Helens, Lancashire
George Age 9, born Liverpool
John H Age 8, born Liverpool
Norman Age 6, born Liverpool
Doris Age 4, born Liverpool

If my investigations are correct the family may have moved to Ontario, Canada, but that could have been after 1919.

Doris could have gone on to become a nurse in Canada.

Again if my investigations are correct and I have the right family Mary Smith is complicated.   She was born MARY SIGGINS in 1879 in St Helens.   She probably went to live with a family named SMITH in Liverpool.   The head of the family was Captain Smith, a captain of a tugboat.    To complicate things she married a man with the surname SMITH.

Any information helpful and willing to pass on any family history that I have.

Kind regards.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: Baptism Look Up For St Helens - Patrick Connor 1883
« on: Wednesday 16 September 09 16:06 BST (UK)  »
Hi Carole

The baptism should be in a Catholic Church.

The mother's family may have lived around the Eccleston Street, Lyon Street area.   In or around St Thomas' Church in Westfield Street.

The birth registration is under Connor.

Mother's name Mary Connor.

For family reason's the baptism may be under the surname RILEY.

Many thanks for your assistance.

Hi

I wonder if anyone could help with a baptism look up please.

Interested in any baptism details, particularly named parents, for one PATRICK CONNOR born Apr/May/Jun 1883 in St Helens, Lancashire.

There might be a slight glitch here in that the baptism listing might have a different surname.   The baptism record might be for a PATRICK RILEY.

Any information or advice would very much appreciated.

Best wishes.
