well our one has this silver clasp with the above inscription on it. which i am assuming is the owner of the said book. perhaps it was awarded to him when he was made up or something like that. as we are not in the least bit religious it isnt of that importance. just the fact that she would like to know who he was.

yeah thats right. its one of those. got how to do funerals, marriages, funerals at sea, how to attend the sick and dying, how to do baptisms, and also when and how to pray by the phases of the moon.
if its a scottish name then iv no idea what he was doing in norfolk. other than perhaps he was sent there.
my friends husband died xmas time and she was clearing out the house as its been sold when we found it.

and before anyone says " the character out of that sci fi programme farscape" haha. no seriously. my friends house has been in her husbands family for at least 4 generations. but neither of them have the surname of chrichton nor has there been anyone of that surname for several generations. she found an old bible in the attic. but its no ordinary bible. its one that a priest would own. its got all the tables about finding out when the religious holidays are, and ordaining other priests, an has that its taken from the original by james the king 1502. it has a silver fastening with the words john chrichton 1st jan 1874 on the inside.
she is intrigued. is there any way we can find out who this man was without doing her family tree. as shes not interested in that. is there anywhere we can find out if there was a priest etc in that era with that name. we are in norfolk.

hi jenni
unfortunately i cant answer you at the mo. a lot of my information is on Genes Reunited.
i have two trees one under my email address and one under my sons. that is because i have a birth tree and a adopted tree.
i forgot my passwrods and now Genes Reunited are denying that my adopted tree exists but have linked my birth tree with the email address for my adopted tree!!!!
Doh three years work lost.
teach me to keep track of my passwords

i do have a paper copy but its quite confusing so i will endeavour on weds when i have a little more time to sit and see if i can find your people and linkthem to the tree.
also the folder with all the research information so perfecdtly filed got banged when we moved a year ago and is all come out of the forlder which was a lever arch one and really full of paper work.

oh ok. sorry bout that.
ive got another one for you.

stanley marries in june quarter 1914 to someone called jones but... when i went in to the screen theres only 3 names and none of them are jones. so it appears theres a name missing on that page.

tried bulson jones births and theres one. stanley e in june 1915
mayeb stanley senior went to war.

yes you are probably right.
ive found a marriage for kate ethel the daughter and a marriage for may which appears to be her name not mary. one to herbert bromige and the other to frederick neal. a birth for david bromige and two for girls to meal pamela and brenda. and as they are about the same age as my mum there is a chance that one or more are still alive.
also mum kate mary remarried herself to one arthur haigh in 1919 but looks like no more kids for her.

still the tree grows lol.
