Now today I see that they have updated and removed the 1714 + tag, so there is nothing to click on, and I can't even complain because  they are now not offering it as available!"

It's all a cunning plot !!

How sneaky, and just checked - maybe it's time for another e-mail?  ;D

Just to add that it would appear that there were gravestones prior to 1884 (mentioned in a family hisotry book that I've got).

So, I'm guessing that the previous gravestones (St Anne's) must have been removed and not noted anywhere, unless anyone knows anything different?

Cheers,

Nick

I won't hold my breath  ;D

Me neither, but it's a better response than the first one!  ;D

Ah-ha, a further response :)

"Thank you for contacting Ancestry in regards to the London Metropolitan Archive Registers.

I have forward your request to add the missing records in the London Metropolitan Archive Registers so that the relevant department can consider adding these collections to the website, I cannot promise that the collections will be added neither can I give a Timeframe on when.

We’re always sorry to learn that our members had a frustrating experience. We’ve forwarded your feedback on to the proper department for consideration. "

It sounds as though whoever was responding to my e-mail hadn't read it properly, and thought I was asking for new parish records, as opposed to identifying missing years...

Maybe I should have emphasised the missing years/gap in the records?

Oh well...  ::)

Cheers,

Nick

Hi Dawn,

Alas, they responded with a stock response:

"Thank you for contacting Ancestry in regards to the missing baptism registers.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Thank you for contacting Ancestry. At Ancestry, we are constantly searching for new records that will help our subscribers find their ancestors. There are many factors that go into selecting records to be added to the site. We prioritize our search based on what subscribers tell us they need the most. Of course, once found, not all records are available to us from the archive or repository that holds them. At this time we do not have any specific information to share on the records you’ve asked about. Please check the “What’s New” section of our website often at http://www.ancestry.com/cs/reccol/default. If you have any questions regarding any other matters pertaining to Ancestry, please do not hesitate to contact us by responding to this email."

(which, of course, misses the point entirely - i.e. they missed those years in their scanning regime)...

Oh well, I've tried replying, but probably to no avail...

Cheers,

Nick

Hi Dawn,

Done - sent the appropriate e-mail to Ancestry. They might take a while to respond...  ;)

Cheers,

Nick

The same would probably apply with an 18th-century record too.  ;)

Indeed! Sometimes, you can be lucky, however :)

The original register is held in store and is accessed on microfilm at LMA, reference P69/SEP/001/A/MS07219/004.
If no-one can look it up for you, you could order a printout from the film, but I think it is very unlikely to include the information you're seeking.

Hi,

Many thanks - much appreciated. As I live in Hertfordshire, going into London is relatively straightforward, so I'll put it onto my "to do list" shortly.

You're probably right about it not containing any further information (it being a 16th Century record), but until I see it, I won't know!  ;D

Cheers,

Nick
