Try this link  for norfolk,  there are 1849 entries for Turners.  Might help though.

The Common Room / Adoption - original birth cert. - help needed
« on: Tuesday 03 February 09 22:55 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone tell me how I can obtain the original birth cert for a family member in there late 70's. Would I have to go through the same process as, say someone in their teens and have to involve social services etc?

Hi Holly,

Like you I have Lake family (Norfolk) connections, except my arm of the family from west of Norfolk around Kings Lynn and not the north like your connection.

1841 census Bale HO / 107 / 776 / 20
England LAKE 35 Ag Lab
Sarah 30
John 13
England 12
James 7
Sarah 3

from 1851
England 45
Sarah 43
John 23
James 17
Sarah A 6

In regards to the above have you tried looking back further? As England may have been there mothers or grandmother maiden name. A good place to start searching would be http://wwwfamilysearch.org Try searching the International data base first.

Back to the above names, is it possible she married the other brother, after the death say of her husband (other brother)? This was not uncommon in Norfolk as was 1st cousin marriages. What does not help is that there was loads of errors in the 1841 and 1851censuses not to mention the other 4 censuses that followed. The first two were the worse by far.

heres a map also to help you get your bearings.

Hi,

The Mann family were a well known family in Dersingham. One of the Mann's was a Royal Firemen based on the Sandringham Estate (c:1901)

' so then I assumed that Georges Father was George 1795 yatley.'

Assumed in family history terms basically means I don't know, or at best I have little or no evidence to prove it. Which if you are not careful means 'I will shoe horn' something into fit anyway.

If somebody says they are born in Greenford that really isn't the same as Shoreditch which is now in the East End of the centre of London, but was then just outside the square mile of the City of London. Greenford Middlesex is way out on the west side of Greater London towards Heathrow airport.
Neither is Basingstoke the same as Yateley.
They really are not good matches and pursuing family history this way just means inevitably you will begin to research someone elses family or families' history.

The IGI is a very imperfect index with coverage of some of these Middlesex parishes none existant. Coverage of Hampshire parishes for instance pre 1813 is at best around 43% of some parishes which are covered for some periods. In other counties the coverage drops as low as 2%. In others it is much higher.
Just because you haven't found a match from the IGI doesn't mean there isn't a baptism to find it just means it isn't on the IGI.

Valda

Hi I am Greenford Based - 'man and boy' lol

Greenford is in fact 13 miles west of the City of London in the heart of Middlesex. If you wish to contact the parish church just google ' Greenford Magna' and top of the list is is the parish website - contact: Rev. Neil Richardson. Second on the list should be my Greenford website.

PS. Mattock Lane is in Ealing Broadway, W5 Just south of the Uxbridge Road.

Interesting point - The Middlesex Lunatic Asylum (Hanwell Asylum) is in fact not in Hanwell, Middlesex. But, on the west bank of the River Brent. Thus making it in fact in the Parish of Southall-Norwwood, Middlesex.
There is a small musuem within what is left of the hospital. It is open by appointment - tel: 0208 896 5000 (Ealing Hospital main switch board) ask for the museum.

Cheshire / Re: Whitfield family - North Cheshire & south Lancs

Hi,
What I am trying to find out is how my arm of the Whitfield family fits in with other Whitfield's in the Warrington area. I have traced my family on the census records. which has come up with some names but not many. I will google Cheshire Parish Records and see what I can turn up.

Thanks

Andy,
