Durham Lookup Requests / Re: Emily "Elsie" Oliver of Darlington M/D Lookup request

It does seem strange I agree, but James Clapham Oliver is such an unusual name.  My thoughts are that perhaps James did the accounting for Pearson & Co, or maybe he invested some money in the company as he wasn't a draper.  Next spring I'm planning to visit the north of England to do some research on Pearson & Co, maybe this will unravel the myster.
Kind Regards Ruth

Does anyone have any information about Emily's father James Clapham Oliver?  I discovered that in 1869 William Thomas Pearson(my great grandfather) and James Clapham Oliver, of 42 and 43, Market-place, Bishop Auckland, in the county of Durham,  were General Drapers and Clothiers, trading together as Pearson and Company.

Hi
Do you know if Annie B Glendenning b.abt 1876 was related to your Glendenning family?  Annie married Bowyer Bell Mewburn 1911 at Rothbury Northumberland, Bowyer was my grandmother's brother, he was born 1876 Bishopswearmouth.  I stumbled on your listing when looking for Fatfield as a close relative by marriage of Annie's Elizabeth Stevenson was born there 1837.

I'm a direct descendant of Thomas Beer born 1810 Holberton, he was the younger brother of Richard born 1805, their father was John Beer, mother was Mary Revel all born Holberton.  Thomas and some of his siblings moved to Bigbury, Devon, others to Devonport/Plymouth area.  My family tree is on GenesReunited site, let me know if you want a look at it, or I could copy some data for this site.  Look forward to hearing from you.  My email address is

« on: Friday 20 July 07 15:55 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I'm new to this site so please forgive inexperience.
I have Allen ancestors from Marylebone, Joseph (banker) who also had a house at Northam, his sons Hammond & Montague, and grandson Charles Percival.  So far I have found no ancestral links, but just maybe you are connected?
Kind Regards, Ruth
