Hello Trish,

My sincere apologies for taking so long to reply... :-[

Just could not remember my ID or old email address! ???

Then I created a new one "larc1790" - so that's me.

I shall have to email admin to sort things out.

How is everything on your side of the world?  Good I hope!

Look forward to catching up with you again.

Cheers,

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / MARMONT/MARMENT/HALL 1800s BACK
« on: Wednesday 02 February 05 07:38 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

My 4xGreat-Grandparents were John MARMENT & Elizabeth HALL.

Their son, William MARMONT (my 3x-Great-Grandfather) was born in 1805c, Bisley, GLS.
William was transported to Australia as a convict in 1824.

This is a new research for me - I would be happy to hear from anyone researching the names MARMONT & HALL.

The MARMONT name seems very common in the Kings Stanley area from 1566c.

Thank you,

Regards,

Christine

Many thanks for your reply and information, Trish.  John Hatton was said to be about 18 when he arrived in Australia, so, it does look promising!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hi Janet,

My apologies for not replying sooner.

Many thanks for your response and information - it's appreciated!  Where did you find the information?  The 22 yr old John Hatton looks a possibility.

Regards,

Christine

Devon Completed Lookup Requests / ROBERT LARCOMBE b.1810c
« on: Tuesday 31 August 04 14:57 BST (UK)  »

Hi Kazza,

My aplogies for my first post in the wrong list...
 :(

I would appreciate a lookup for my 3xGreat-Grandfather, Robert Larcombe b.1810c (possibly near the Somerset border, as on the Convict ship's manifest - it has him being born in Somerset).  His parents - would be wonderful!!

From the 1838 October General Quarter Sessions held at Exeter Castle:

"Robert LARCOMBE late of the Parish of Honition in the County of Devon, labourer and John FOWLER late of the same parish, labourer".

The offence was stealing and they were both sentenced to 7 years transportation to Australia.

Robert LARCOMBE arrived in NSW, Australia onboard the JOHN BARRY ship, 22 Mar 1839.  Some convict records have him being a Stonemason apprentice of 2½ years.  This could be true - as in Australia he was known as a Stonemason & Farmer.

As I have been at a brick wall with this fellow for a few years - any information/assistance would be most appreciated!!

Thank you,

Regards,

Christine
