World War Two / POW record in Japanese
« on: Tuesday 14 October 08 11:04 BST (UK)  »
I have a POW record card of an ancestor who died working on the Burma Railway. There are about 5 lines of Japanese in the "Other Information" section. Could anyone translate it for me?

If you are willing to have a go pls send me your email address in a private messsage  & I'll send you the JPG file

Many thanks

Looking for details of Mary Rogers Morgan  died Q1 1850 W'ton district. There is a Mary Morgan born Q1 1850 W'ton district and I have gg-gf Thomas Morgan, ggg-uncles Edwin Morgan, Charles Rogers Morgan and William Rogers Morgan - Charles & Edwin were in Willenhall in 1851 census, living 100yds from St Giles.

Staffordshire / John Gough, Brewood area, 1740 ish
« on: Wednesday 07 November 07 12:40 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for parents of John Gough, who in 1761 married Mary Handley at Brewood St Mary's.

There are several John Goughs in the area according to the IGI but none are so close as to be a convincing match.

Commiserations.
Did they tell you beforehand?
I'd complain like @@@!*! if I were you.

Email should never be down from an ISP. Its perfectly possible to have dual-redundant servers, to upgrade one set, swap over almost instantaneously and resume without anyone noticing.

A system I designed 25 years ago could do it (except that was monitoring two nuclear reactors, not distributing a load of spam), so why not now?

If they do it again, get a real ISP!
