London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Camden Town Lay preacher
« on: Sunday 18 May 08 11:54 BST (UK)  »
Information has just come to hand that states my gg g/father was a lay preacher in Camden Town. The time span would be 1857-1866. He was a convert to christianity. I have no idea where to start looking for more information. Any advice is appreciated
Thank you
Leah

Thanks for that website. There is a tiny picture there of Pentonville Chapel on the bottom left which is the same as the one I have just purchased!
Thanks,
Leah

Hi Jane and Sandie
Thank you both for your suggestions. Very interesting websites
I have finally found a picture at collage.cityoflondon.gov.uk which has an awful lot of information and a "shopping basket" as well!
Cheers!

I'm looking for a picture of Pentonville Chapel in the Parish of St James, Clerkenwell. I know it existed in 1859 but I think it was demolished in mid 1900's. I've "googled" to no avail
Can anyone help please? ???
Thankyou

Hi Patricia

Yes, that is my grandfather. He was a pupil teacher whatever that is. Thanks for the website addresses-they will be helpful for me in other areas. I'm still looking to find where in Kensington he was baptized,at the same time as his sister who was born 8 years after him. It seems odd that he was christened aged 8 and I was hoping to prove that the IGI on LDS was correct
Thanks for the reply

Thanks for the tip-as you say there are hundreds of them in that batch number- I could be pushing daisies up by the time I get through them all!  Maybe I shall have to change direction to sort this one out

Oliver Heinrich Bamberger was my great grandfather and I have found him on all census (censi?!) from 1871-1901. He died in 1934
I was hoping to find the church where he was baptized so that I could find out whether it was Anglican, CofE etc etc. It seems that each child, and there were 8 of them, may have had different religious upbringings and I was curious about Oliver

Thanks for the help

Hi

Thanks for the reply
The name is Oliver Heinrich Bamberger who was born in 1866 but this IGI shows he was baptized 12 JUL 1874. There may be some underlying reason for this. It is possible that the same record may show Nellie Harriet Bamberger who was born Kensington March 1874 and Alexander Bamberger who was born 1869.

Thanks
Leah
