Cumberland Lookup Requests / Re: Kegg/Caig/Caeg family history research
« on: Saturday 10 May 08 14:00 BST (UK)  »
That is very helpful. Thank you. I now need to find the dates that Jane Caig died (1st wife) and John and Mary to see if that explains why Mary Jane Kegg was in the Workhouse from aged 2. I wonder what happened to Hannah and Mary (sisters on the 1841 census). Looks like I will moving to Scotland to find more information about John Caig b.1796c.  Any more help would be very much appreciated.

Has anyone got information for the 1830's to find a John and Jane Kegg living in Whitehaven area in the late 1830's with a daughter Hannah? I think that they could have lived in Greggs or Giggs Lane. I believe that Jane died and then John married Mary Hutchinson. I have a Marriage Certificate which states that John Caig is a widower when he married Mary in 1843. John and Mary had a daughter, Mary Jane Kegg and this is the line I am interested in tracing. Mary Jane was brought up in the Workhouse and so presumably both of her parents must have died. If this is the right line, John's father was also John and was a Husbandsman and Mary's father was James and he was a Mason. Witnesses on this certificate are James Hewitson and Catherine Blaney. I am not able to get any further back and would appreciate any help.

Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / Re: Cheesman Family Tree

Thanks very much. You have been busy. A lot of the information sounds as if it could be right except the 1861 census where there isnt a James. That is another family as I have already looked into that. I think James' father is Edward and there must be another family in the area. I think James had been married before but I didnt realise that he had moved to Wales. I wonder what happened to Emma b.1880c Francis b.1883c and Winnifred b.1888c as I know nothing about them and as Lily Cheesman's step family I should have done. You have been a great help and if you find anything else please let me know.

Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / Cheesman Family Tree

Can someone do some look-ups for me. I have a Lily Cheesman b1900 in Luton to, I believe, a James and Catherine. I would like to know more informatiom about James and Catherine. James came from Hawkhurst, Kent and was born c1858 and Catherine from Cirencester c1856 if I have my facts right from the 1901 census for Luton. Catherine's maiden name and James' parents names would be especially helpful. Anything else would be a bonus. Lily Cheesman married William Collins, also from Luton, and if you know the date of this marriage it would be a help.

Thanks.

Carol.

Cumberland Lookup Requests / Re: Hornsby family

That sounds like the right family as I know there was a Joel but there must have been more children as my Aunt was Ada too and she was born in 1925 at Whitehaven. That must be Ada's death in 1960, if it is the only one in Cumberland but its strange her age isnt right. Perhaps there was a hospital at Cockermouth that she went into, as she did live in Whitehaven. I presume you would need an approximate date to trace the death of John Hornsby and I dont know that.

Thanks that must be the one. Can you find any information about her death as Ada Hornsby?

Can someone do a look up for me please for Ada Hornsby born at Ennerdale in 1884c as Ada Lancaster. She married John Hornsby at Whitehaven in 1912. Any information would be helpful but in particular I would like help in tracing her death which I believe was about 1960 in Cumberland. I haven't got the death of John Hornsby either but I believe it to be a lot earlier than Ada.

Thank you.
