Australia / Re: William DOLEY
« on: Wednesday 03 August 16 03:33 BST (UK)  »
Wondering if anyone has confirmed Sarah Doley's arrival in Australia. I have found a possible arrival on the 27th of June 1881 on the "Cuzco". http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/197756799?searchTerm=%22doley%22&searchLimits=l-state=South+Australia|||sortby=dateAsc|||l-decade=188|||l-year=1881|||l-month=6

I am also wondering what people's thoughts are on the marriage for George and Sarah Doley. I have seen some consider Sarah to be Sarah Meir. A marriage can be found in 1842 for a George Dooley and Sarah Meir in the registration district of Congleton in Chesire. However, this couple are found in the 1871 census in Tunstall, Staffordshire. They are residing with Sarah's parents, Thomas and Hannah Meir. The occupation for George is not a match, and Sarah's place of birth also differs. I have also ruled out the Sarah Bolton/George Doley marriage.

I am currently considering a possible marriage in 1839 in West Bromwich. Free BMD has George Doley and Sarah Collins listed on the same page (Vol 18 Page 704). However I have not yet found more information on this. There are a few Sarah Collins born in Birmingham in the right time period for this.

Hi LizzieW,

Thanks for your reply. I have considered the possibility that they did not remain together. Just hoping that the widow statement on the marriage record was correct.

Being the person who began the Sedunary surname in England, and then Australia... he is one person I would love to know more about.

Hi Harry,

Thanks so much for checking for me! The Sedunary burial are those of his son's wives, and his grandchildren. He remains elusive though! It is such a rare surname, and the transcription is often incorrect, so we may never find him. My other concern is he is listed as a valet, in his son's marriage record in 1853. I wonder if he has died and been buried during travel with his employer. The other question which noone has an answer to is if his wife Ann arrives in Berkshire before or after his death.

Oh well, I live in hope that we find him one day!

Thanks again! :)

Berkshire / Burial of Catholic in Reading early 1800s

Hi!

I am searching for a burial record for a man who was most likely Catholic. His name was Giuseppe Sedenari/Joseph Sedenary. He was born in Italy, but arrived some time before mid to late 1802. He married in Marylebone in April 1803, and his son was born soon after.

His wife remarries in Feb 1808, at St Laurence, Market Place, Reading. The marriage was by licence, and she is stated as a widow, and of that parish.

Given that he would have been Catholic, is it likely he was not buried at St Laurence (assuming they were living in that parish at the time of his death)? Am I likely to find a record for his death somewhere?

I appreciate any help or advice you are able to offer!

Hi Ian, Thanks for replying! Yes, that is Sarah's birth record. I had seen the Hurst PRs online. I looked in there for Sarah's marriage to a Chitty, but can't find one. I was hoping someone would have knowledge of records I don't know about, or access to records I don't have access to... and would be willing to help.  :)

Hi Trish! Are you searching for this marriage too? I haven't seen Samuel's will yet. But have found online that Joseph Sedunary was listed as his son-in-law. At first I wondered if it was assumed that he was the son-in-law, and that Samuel was the one who taught Joseph carpentry, and this was the reason behind Joseph being in the will. But it does seem to fit that Sarah Chitty is the married name of Sarah Mileham... if only a marriage record could be found!

Hi,

I am hoping someone can help search for a possible marriage for me. The groom would be a CHITTY, his firstname is unknown. The bride is Sarah MILEHAM or MILAM. She was born in 1798, possibly in Hurst. The marriage would have occured before 1827.

Many thanks for any help you are able to give me.

Tennille.

London and Middlesex / St Pancras request
« on: Thursday 14 June 12 05:26 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has the ability to look at a burial at St. Pancras. I have found on Deceased Online, a record for a family member. The record says there is 8 other burials, I am wondering if one of them is a long lost family member.

Unfortunately I am unable to purchase credits to view this record. I would be very thankful if anyone is able to help.

The record is for Elizabeth Sedunari. The information I can see is:

last name
Sedunari
first names
Elizabeth Lizzie
burial date
21  Dec  1946
authority
London Borough Of Camden
location
St Pancras Cemetery (Camden)

Thank You in advance, for any help you can offer.
