Lance and I both have DNA matches to the siblings of William Barton from Rowland in Derbyshire. he was The notorious footpad Barton, a native of Rowland, Derbyshire, whose numerous depredations in different parts of the county have occasioned much alarm,  and for whose apprehension a large reward has been offered by his Grace the Duke of Portland, in consequence of his stopping and robbing one of his Grace's servants at Worsop, a short time ago, has for a long time eluded the vigilance of the police and others ; he was taken in Nottingham last week, and passed through Chesterfield on Saturday night last on his way to this town, to answer for his delinquencies. - Sheffield Mercury

Norfolk Lookup Requests / Re: SCRIVENER Diss area

The witnesses at the marriage in Brockdish would tend to confirm it is the same family
Sophia Nobbs was the 2nd wife of John Doughty and he had had a daughter Caroline by his first Marriage. Sophia Nobbs mother Molly Whitehead was sister to Phoebe Whitehead.

Pheobe Whitehead and George Whitehead (nephew to Phoebe and Molly, son of William) are witnesses to Molly Whiteheads daughter Sophia Nobbs' marriage in 1827

When Sophia married the widower John Doughty on 25 Dec 1827, the witnesses are W Simpson, Margaret Simpson, George Whitehead, Pheobe Whitehead and Mary Doughty

My Dad has a DNA match to a lady who has this above Phoebe Whitehead as daughter of Phoebe Whitehead born October 1765 at Diss. this tree has the older Phoebe dying at Stowmarket in 1844.
I have not seen the 1805/1806 birth, but the older Phoebe is Part of our Lot.
There was another Phoebe born 1804 at Ipswich to John Whitehead and Frances Crisp.

Robert Grieve and Margaret Lindsay had a son William baptised at Smailholm 16 Feb 1823, so he could have been born in 1822

Hi
is there any connection to James Grieve and Janet Wight ?
He died at Sinton Gardens in 10 July 1871 and she died there 2 February 1863, she was from Bowden.
He was born at Thirlstone, Ettrick 22 Nov 1783 to Walter Grieve and Agnes Kerr they were married at Ettrick in 10 January 1783
they had, confirmed by death records
Isabel about 1809, Bowden she died 1894 at Broomhill, Selkirk, Selkirkshire, Scotland, she was married to George Hogg
William about 1827 at Ashkirk, died 30 July 1902 Synton Mill Farm, a descendant of his is a DNA match to me which has me trying to tie up thier Grieves to mine.
They had at Ashkirk Andrew 1820 and John 1824 the only two children i could find for them.
one of Isabel's children was with William on a census which led me to her.
So above Margaret Grieve could well be a child of theirs, as there is a big gap in baptismal records for the family
Jessie 1818 and Thomas 1830 and Walter 1840 show on census records with them

East Lothian (Haddingtonshire) / Re: Adam Skirving / Janet Bairnsfather COMPLETED

Thanks Trish looks like Jean was a sister to Adam, as her husband Patrick Coldoun was witness on Catherines baptism, and on Agnes's William Knox and James Skirvine.
A William Knox was married to an Agnes Skirvine and Agnes 1675 was married to their son Archibald.
