Regarding Sidlow Mill, I have extracted this from the River Mole Wikipedia page's section on Watermills:

"The first mill at Sidlow was built during Saxon times. The final mill on the site was demolished in 1790, however remains of the mill leat are still visible.[11]"

Just seen this article. How will this affect NZ family history research ?  Does this mean that the Papers Past programme will cease?

Thanks

HI, There is an East Dean about 5-6 miles from Sherfield English, which would probably be the most likely location of Isaac.

I'm presuming the East Dean you mention is the one near Chichester?

Vbond is a relative of my other half. They both descend from Hester Moody.  I haven't really looked into the Moody part of the family.

Terriot - Apologies for very tardy reply.  I haven't logged in for a while.

Sorry, I hadn't worked out if the picture was William or Albert.  I can confirm however they were older brothers of your grandfather.

Wiltshire / Edwards clarification - Wardour
« on: Friday 01 July 22 21:25 BST (UK)  »
Grateful for some Rootschatting assistance please.

James Edwards b 1810 or 1811 Wardour/Ansty, probably baptised at the Roman Catholic Chapel.

Trying to clarify his parentage.

There are several Ancestry Trees which believe that his father was John Edwards from Fovant, however new Rootschatter Atalanta, thinks a more likely candidate might be Stephen Edwards, schoolmaster at Wardour School (RC).

Is his father John or Stephen or someone else?

Atalanta and my wife are descendants of James.

Thanks Kanskar
