Oldmacs, this is a late posting from your 2016 post. I note that you are a direct descendant of Jane Eliza Jones - I am a direct descendant too.  She is my 2nd great grandmother, who married Michael Leeds who migrated to Australia (where I resided) in 1854. My direct line just down from my mother and father is huge (Leeds) - this month we celebrate the birth of the 42nd great grandchild of my Mum and Dad, ( We are nearing 100 descendants just in the line.  Anyway I would welcome some information on Eliza Jane Jones who was often know as Jane Eliza or just Jane.  Her tombstone read Eliza Jane in 1869 and I have details of her cause of death.  I have her born in 1828 in Whittonstall, Kent or is it 9 March 1827 in Shrewsbury, St Julian's Anglican, Shropshire?  Her name in the births and christenings 1538-1975 for the birth of her son, Charles Richard Leeds was Eliza Jane.  Can you shred any light on her birth?  Eliza migrated with Michael Leeds and arrived in Australia on 23 October, 1854. After Eliza died, Michael married Emily Margaret Baugh Jones in 1871.  I have extensive information on this line and would love to share.  I look forward to hearing from you. Regards Gen Campbell (nee Leeds)

Gloucestershire / Re: Who are Edward Callaghan parents?
« on: Thursday 21 February 19 21:55 GMT (UK)  »
Hello again Helina
Edward Callaghan born Deptford, Greenwich in 1857 is the son of Dennis Callaghan & Julia Dwyer and is the same Edward as mentioned in the Old Bailey Trial - he was the brother of Mary Ann Callaghan who died by his hands.   Mary Ann married William in Jun 1871, Westminster and is a direct descendant on my side of things.  This Edward is the same as the one in Wandsworth Prison, before he was declared insane after murdering his sister, Mary and niece Annie.  Ref UK, Lunacy Patients Admission Registers, 1846-1912.  He died in Broadmoor Asylum, Crowthorne, Berkshire, England on 26 Jan 1917 and was buried on 30 Jan 1917. (Ref Berkshire Burial Index).  In relation to your earlier message regarding William Evenden born 1828, yest William married Elizabeth 'Eliza' Bates in 1846 in Cranbrook, Kent but she died in 1862.  They had 6 children.  He married Ellen Follings on 5 Jun 1865 at St James Bermondsey Southwark.  William died in 1893 (2 years previously it was stated he was paralysed) and Ellen died in May 1929, Poplar, London.  William & Ellen had three children. I have substantial information on this line, together with sources and as mentioned previously I am happy to share which will save you a lot of time.  Further Edward Patrick Evenden born 22 May 1893, married Bessie Burrows in 1919.  They had 8 children.  He died on 15 Dec 1957 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.  After his mother died 1897, Edward was listed as Edward Evington, aged 8 years, born in Greenwich on the 1901 Census at St Mary's School for Boys in Eltham - listed as 'Attending School'.  Even though his name is spelt incorrectly, I am sure that this is him as he is the only one from Greenwich with the correct age as all orphanage records have been searched.
In the 1911 British Census, Edward is listed on an 'Institution' record as Edward, aged 17 and County "Overseas Military".
In the 1911 British Census, Edward is listed as a boy, aged 17 yrs  with the 8th Royal Irish Hussars, Campbell Barracks, Dilkusha, Lucknow, India.  His trade is a musician and he was in the same barracks as his brother William Patrick.
Edward & Bessie  lived in Winchcombe, & Cheltenham, both in the county of Gloucestershire.  His granddaughter, Jane told us that he was a Trumpeter in a UK orchestra.
If I can help further let me know.
Cheers
Gen

In regard to William Evenden and wife Elizabeth "Eliza" Bates;  I have a date of 1846 as their marriage ref:  England & Wales, Civil Registration Marriage Index, 1837-1915 Vol 5, Page 133.  There were 6 children born from 1847, Thomas Henry Evenden to the last in 1860, Mary Ann Evenden.  I have never heard of Raven, Rommings etc as the mother.  I am yet to find Eliza Bates parents.
Also Ellen Follings was a spinister when she married William in 1865 if you refer to the marriage certificate.  Ellen Follings had a sister Margaret Follings.  Eliza Bates and Ellen Follings were not related.  I have an enormous amount of history on this line which I have been researching for over 20 years.  Cheers Gen Campbell

Sussex / Re: What happened to the Evenden family after 1861?
« on: Friday 22 July 16 10:03 BST (UK)  »
Hi Helena
My husband's 2nd Great Grandfather is William Charles Evenden.  I have done extensive research on this family for my husband and in-laws so I would like to connect.  If you would like to contact me and then I can give you my mobile no.  I am located in Doncaster Victoria. I am sure I can fill in a lot of your gaps and would be interested to know the descendant you are helping with their family history.  My mother-in-law's name is Ann Campbell (nee Evenden) who is the granddaughter of William Patrick Evenden & Elsie May Kilby/Burrows, and father of William P is William Charles Evenden & Mary Callaghan.  Further there is important information on the death of Mary Evenden (need Callaghan) I need to make you aware of, or maybe you know already.
Must go, send me a message if you are interested.
Regards, Gen Campbell
