Louisa Hilda Dyer was born on the 14/15th February 1914 in Worplesdon near Guildford. She went to school in Surrey and won a Scholarship to study music and learn to be an opera singer. I am sure she went to school in Guildford and am trying to find out what school would be involved and where the scholarship was for. Her father refused to let her go. Any help gratefully received.

I went to school in Poole in 1953 and I was only 6. I remember getting a Coronation mug. The school I went to was an infants school. I went down the "zig zag to get to it. It had a brick wall around the school but cannot remember what it was called. Any help gratefully received.

Surrey / Scholarships
« on: Sunday 06 May 18 18:44 BST (UK)  »
At what age in the 1920's would some one win a scholarship in Surrey? My mother, who was born in 1914, told me she won a scholarship to train as an Opera Singer but her father would not let her go. Any info gratefully received.
