Hi

My Husband is decended from Francis's brother Nelson. Who was married to Carroline's sister Elizabeth Barnes. As well as information, documents and photos for the Noyce's. I have also researched Caroline and Elizabeth fathers and mothers line nee Mason, who are from Winchester.

If I remember correctly Winchester Records office have a copy of Franks will.

I've gone back to 1785 on the Barnes Tree, and 1710 on the Noyce line. Let me know if you would like any information.
Regards Clare

Thank you very much for finding them in the 1861 census. I hadn't thought of putting something like Pipkins.

My problem is with the grandchildren who appear with Catherine from the 1891 census on-wards. They give their place of birth as Folkestone. Kent But I can't find an entry for any of them. So I don't know who their parents are?

Catherine Priscilla is my grandmother, she puts her fathers name as William Merchant on her marriage certificate? Maybe I should look under Pipkins?

Thank you once again

Kind Regards

Clare

Could some kind person with access look up in Passenger Lists, for when the Gifkins family entered England.

The names are William, Catherine with possible children William, Sarah, Mary, Martin and Henry. All bar William were born abroad, even his wife.

I think they enter England via Southampton prior to 1863, as at that time William made his will in Winchester Hampshire, stating that he was retired form the Army. passing away soon after.

I have never found William in any English census.

Thanks

Clare

Could some kind sole please help me with my reseach of the Gifkins family of Chalgrove, and look up a birth.

I think there should be a birth of a William Gifkins in Chalgrove circa 1823 the son of William and Priscilla., and I would really like  to establish this.

There is an entry in the IGI for their marriage, though this is a submitted entry. I am sure these are the parents of my William though by 1841 he is not living with the family. In fact he never appears in any census, as I think he joined the Army. All his children say they are born all over the world. He passed away in Winchester after making a will in 1863. In the will he leaves everything to his wife Catherine ( she was born in Gibraltar ), including his house in Chalgrove, that is occupied by his father. Hence the link

He also mention a son called William, who is just as elusive, I can't find him in any census either.

Ultimately it is William granddaughter born circa 1880 I am linked to. But although I can find her in the census from 1891, she and her siblings say there were born in Folkestone, yet there is no record, nor are they ever with their parents. on her marriage certificate she gives her father as William Gifkins. But these Gifkins are giving me a real runaround.

Thanks

Clare

Kent Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Birth In Hougham 1826 Completed

Hi Again

After going on family search I had to make one more comment.

It has Matthew and Elizabeth marriage in 1745, and there is also a possible marriage for Matthews father.

Matthew Barrows to Eliza PALMER 20 OCT 1706.

Always more questions than answers.

Merry Christmas to every one.
