Hi Tanya, I thought I had your email address but must have lost it, Joseph Watkins was not born in Ireland, he was born 1822 Colwall Green, Herefordshire, England his parents are William & Sarah (do not know which Sarah as there was a lot of Sarahs around at the time), his marriage to Harriet Wingate was listed as Harriet Winwood, (Winwood also being a name in the area and it appears the wrong name was written down). Joseph was listed as a widower, we have not established who his first wife is, Harriet was born 1828 Colwall, mother is Margaret & father is Richard. Marriage date for J & H is 20 Dec 1849 in the parish of St James the Great Colwall Herefordshire UK, we have been to the church. Send me your email via messenger if you want copies of anything I have. Barbara

Hi Tanya, Are you Tanya from Katanning? We do not have any new info for Cath Tully, no death dates, no mothers name, some people seem to be grasping at any name that may match, the DNA test I did matched me up with the Tully family in Massachusetts USA, they went there in the late 1890's, their family goes back to Rushestown Galway and that is where its at the moment and that is probably where our Tullys came from and so one of their relatives was probably Caths & Bridgets. Have you matched with this family? I have not had any more connections other than this Tully family in the US. Maybe something will come up if more people take a DNA test.
best wishes . Barbara

William Watkins (Jos.Father) was a Blacksmith at Colwall. There was also another blacksmith named Watkins there as well. A James also a blacksmith in 1813 (Colwall  reg.) On the 1841 Census there are several Jos. Watkins. there is an entry for a Jos 20 & Mary 20 at Lyonshall (is that too far away) Also have a marriage for Jos. & a Mary Powell in 1839  at Martley. I have a Mary Watkins died at Martley 1941 June Aug. Sept qtr but don't know much about that as its off BMD's. Sarah Watkins/Hyde is listed being born at 2 places on Censuses1861 Coddington and 1851 Leigh. Martley is up near Leigh . IGI has a Sarah b. at ActonBeauchamp 1789 and a Sarah  1790 at Colwall (LDS member) Also a Sarah Morgan at Leigh b 1794. Am I going around in circles here. I  am hoping I don't have to view every film copied...Barbara.

I am gggrandaughter of Joseph Watkins of Colwall/Gt. Malvern married to Harriet Wingate/Winwood of Evendine/Colwall. Their daughter was MaryAnn Watkins married Thomas Scrivens. Joseph Watkins was convicted in 1850 of stealing 3 sheep on Hook Common. Worcester. Transported to Western Australia for 7 years. Freed on Ticket of Leave. Reinvented himself and started a new family with Irish immigrant girl ( from potato famine migrants) and had 4 daughters named Mary Ann, Harriet, Margaret and Ellen. Joseph married once more making it 4 times . Joseph left many descendants behind, many very succesful in farming and business life. I am interested in finding out who his first wife was before Harriet Wingate.
