Cause of death was "Fever. Diseased mesenteric glands. Certified'

I haven't actually researched exactly what it might mean, am waiting to catch up with a cousin who is a retired nurse for a further explanation.

Thanks Charlotte, you are right sometimes someone else can find something that you're missing.  I seem to have searched the 1851 for him a million times but keep coming up with nothing.

Buckinghamshire Lookup Requests / David JOINER(1834) missing on 1851 census
« on: Saturday 14 March 09 05:48 GMT (UK)  »
I am really hoping that someone will be able to help me locate David Joiner (1834), born Chesham on the 1851 Census.

I have him on the 1841 with his parents Provis & Hannah but can't locate him on the 1851.  He is not with his parents and as he married Hannah Fountain in 1857 at the Lee and died at Botley in 1858 I would really love to locate him on 1851.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Phee are you still around.

I have sent you 2 Personal Messages but I think you must sign back into Rootschat to receive them.  Or check the email accout you signed up with.

You were absolutely correct in  what you wrote about William & Hannah and specifically about George Joiner, Hannah's son from her first marriage to David Joiner in 1857, as well as the the children from the marriage to William.

I will send you another Personal Message today to see if it gets through.

Thanks for the information on the MC rolls Steve.

I have had an offer from someone who may be going to Kew in the next few weeks.  I have my fingers crossed that their generosity will be rewarded.

Gas!!
The Royal Engineers "Special Companies" were used as Gas warfare troops and employed chemists etc all who had a little knowledge.

This could be why he went there.
Ah!!  I never thought of that.   I think you could be right.

He worked as a Chemist in an emulsion works at one stage in his professional life.

Ady, thanks so much for posting the information and link.  You have my appreciation!!

Well George's father was a very successful Pork butcher and several of George's older brother's appear on the 1901 census as butcher assistants in the family business.

George eventually became a chemist so I can't actually put my finger on why he would have joined the Royal Engineers.
