Lancashire Lookup Requests / Looking for the location of Holgate Street, Manchester.

Hello. I have been through my collection of Godfrey's Manchester maps in an attempt to locate Holgate Street, Central Manchester, without success. In Slater's 1911 Directory the Street is mentioned in the index as being adjacent to Corporation Street, but not included in the directory itself. There is a Back Holgate Street on my 1930s map, but this is some distance from Corporation Street. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have spent quite a bit of time on this, but can only be sure that it was off Hankinson Street, off Broad Street, Salford. However, it is not shown on any map that I have, and is not mentioned in Slater's 1911 directorya, and had possibly been renamed or demolished by then. It is shown here on this 1861 census extract. Any help appreciated.

Thanks for the input. A visitor to my family history website has asked me if I knew of it, as he couldn't find it on my maps. He also emailed me a copy of his gg.grandfather's marriage certificate, dated 1886, with the Capon Street address on it. I've been through Slater's 1909 directory and there is no mention of the name anywhere.

I am trying to locate Capon Street, Gorton, but in spite of having gone through old street directories and a fairly extensive map collection, I can't find it. Any ideas, please?

Thanks for that. I am perplexed as to why these resources are sold off to private companies, making them virtually inaccessible to tax-paying citizens, who may only require one or two items of information, unless they are prepared to buy an expensive subscription. A short while ago, I took a one month trial with UK Census Online. I then discovered (they didn't tell me at the time ) that I was the subject of a recurring monthly debit via my Paypal account. Fortunately, it's not too difficult to cancel this. I thought it was a bit underhand, though.
