Hi Fran,

Just wondering if you ever had any luck with tracing Andrew or Elizabeth McClinton's grave in Carmoney ? I'm just curious because my ggg grandad was Samuel McClinton from Carmoney b1833 ish. He married Isabella McCreight from Ballyhill in 1857 in Belfast. Let me know how you got on or if I can be of assistanc

I do have Taylors linked but not directly. The McCaughern's are on my dads paternal side and the Taylor's are in the same time frame but on his maternal side i.e George Taylor married Peggy (Margaret) McLeister. Hopefully this clears up any confusion.

Hi Alex,

That sounds very similar - what relation are you to them ???
If this is correct we are indeed related - let me know.

Thanks Kingskerswell, I had seen Williams dad listed in ancestry ireland as Robert and it made me laugh. His mum was called Sarah Boyd and unmarried, not uncommon in my line as my granda - William's 2nd cousin listed a dad that didn't exist also. William's mum died when he was quite young and my gg grandparents Robert and Mary ann McClinton reared him and my ggranny. Was it quite common then to invent fathers to make a marriage certificate look better ???  lol

Many thanks for that John - have recently confirmed them as part of my Boyd line. Curious to find out if any of their kin still live locally - they ran a wee newsagents up till the 1960's before their passing.   June x

Antrim / Boyds shop - Whitehouse
« on: Thursday 21 July 11 21:02 BST (UK)  »
A few fellow posters have previously (old post 2 years ago - oulpete/headline boatman) mentioned Rob and Lizzie Boyds in Whitehouse - few miles outside Belfast.  My ancestor Robert Boyd was born in 1888 and lived at 10 Coastguard......Whitehouse in 1928 when he registered his uncles death in 1928. The person they mind may have actually been a son or something for all I know but apart from his census records in Cambrai Street and his uncles death registry I know nothing about him our his family. I may well have connections to these people (hopefully) and I would love to find out more about them and find out if there are any relatives still living.
In anticipation...

Sligo / Re: HARTE family in Sligo

Hi there,
My sisters dad came from that area Michael Harte. I remember staying in Inniscrone in the 1980's whilst he and my mum went to visit an uncle of his nearby ( brave age of a boy apparently). Don't know if the name fits in anywhere but if it does let me know - he would have been born in the 1940 / early 1950's and i mind him talking about being taught by Christian Brothers at school. My sister was too young to recall.
