I have found Joseph KEY born 30th Dec 1905 in Salford (father Frederick).  He married Nora Norbury 1927 in Manchester South. In 1939 Register living at 31 Kirkton St Salford with daughter Joan Porter nee Key.  I have found 2 other children Joseph b1933 and Jovce b1928.  Joseph died 1963 and Nora in 1984, both in Salford.

Again, thanks for your leads.  It's a long time since I did any family history research so I an a bit rusty.  Firstly, I can't see any connection to my tree with the marriage of a Mabel and Albert.

I have both John and Elizabeth Key as grocers in Monmouth St Salford where they both died, John in 1928 and Elizabeth in 1927.

I have the marriage of Frederick and Elizabeth Holt in 1902 at St Marks Church Hulme.   They are in the 1911 census living at 48 Hereford st Ordsall with children Thomas Frederick b1904, Joseph b1906 and Gladys b1907. I can't find anything else about the family in 1921 census, or about Elizabeth in 1939 Register. As you say there is a death of Frederick in 1920 which my well be him.

I found the marriage of Alfred and Helen Sweatman and them living at 8 Soho St Salford in the 1921 Census along with Helen's daughter Helen age 10 from her 1st marriage.  The child Violet M was born and died unfortunately in the later half of 1922. it seems that Alfred did die in 1922 as I can't find any other information about him.
Maybe Alfred and Frederick  died of TB like my Gradfather Joseph Henry as they all died within 3 years.  Just a thought.

Now I need to follow the children.

Thank you so much for the information.  Yes the Church is still there and very active.  It is the Parish church for Eccles and Ellesmere Park. I have not gone so far back at present, only up to the 1800s. I am more interested in the recent relatives and their children who would have known Mum.  I have the names of many of them but not much else.

. Trying to find out more about my Mum's relations in Salford. Parents Joseph Henry Key 1881-1923 and Elizabeth Taylor 1887-1952. her Grandparents were Alfred Taylor married to Mary Lake in 1873 and John Key married Elizabeth Clark 1880.  it is her Aunts, Uncles and cousins I am interested in as I have vague memories of going to visit some Uncles but not which ones.  They all appear to have lived in and around the Salford area.  Mum lived in Winton all her life and I did until I married.

Hi Mobile Nanny

I know that there was a son Thomas as he registered both Ephraim's and Martha's deaths.  Any more information would be great.

Hi lizdb
Thanks for the advice.  I suppose I was hoping someone else may have traced any of the 3 Ephraims.  I know I am OK from the 1851 census as I have corroborated the evidence.  I'm stuck going backwards.

Hi Gibel
I know that Heathcote and Biggin are very close and often people will give either name.  I am trying to sort out Ephraim's parents and knowing where he was born would help.

 Hi lizdb
The 1851 census has his age as 60, born in Heathcote and 1861 age 67 born in Biggin.  The problem arises when I try to trace further back and find there are 3 Ephraims all born around the same area and about the same time.   He died in 1874 aged 87 in Cow Hill Belper.
