To jacko-to  - Thanks so much for the suggestion. I've been back over the original census page and you just might have 'Mervue, Galway' spot on! In addition, there are several other people in the street who are from GAlway, which would make sense for the time when as I understand it, 'ghetto' communities from the same places stuck together.

To merc2081
  - I'm ao pleased that you ahve taken the time to look into this so much for me! Thank you. I have ordered the marriage certificate from the records office for the marraige of William McIntyre and Mary Trainer in 1879 and am hoping that it may sheda a little light on their dates of birth, birthplaces and parents. Will post on here if I have a breakthrough!

Lancashire / McIntyre : Ireland to Liverpool - Please Help!
« on: Friday 30 March 07 08:59 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to trace the McIntyre line and hitting a brick wall eary on!
I am particularly intersted in the ancestors of William McIntyre (b. 1880, Liverpool).

His parents were William McIntyre and Mary Traynor/Trainor who married in 1879 at Liverpool Register Office). (I suspect this was Mary's 2nd marriage and it is possible that her maiden name was Dower - this si received information which I have yet to verify though!)

I suspect that this couple are the same as listed in the 1881 Census lists as:
William McIntyre age 38 (b. c1843), born Merive, Ireland
Mary McIntyre age 36 (b. c1845), born Tipperary, Ireland
and their other son John Traynor McIntyre age 7, b 1874 Liverpool.

I have no idea where Merive is in Ireland and all searches have failed to help. I suspect it is a mis-spelling...

I would be delighted to hear form anyone who can help with these lines or who has any suggestions for furthering my research.

Many thnaks!
S.

Dear Chris,

I'm looking for the marriage certificate for Miriam Massey and Thomas Hinton at Great Budworth, Cheshire. I believe this was in September 1812.
Does this show her mother's maiden name ? I would be particularly interested if it does.

Thanks so much!
Susie
