Kent Lookup Requests / Re: Northfleet Kent look up requested

Thanks to all of you -I know the history of the children - it's Matilda that's the mystery. Some answers may be in metropolitan archives but I was trying to get to her origins in Kent if in fact she did come from there.

Kent Lookup Requests / Northfleet Kent look up requested
« on: Thursday 03 April 14 20:18 BST (UK)  »
I have a Matilda Willson who describes herself as being from Northfleet on censuses. She would have been born approx 1810 give or take. However Willson may have been a married name or not. An Edward Hedgcock on a census is described as nephew also from Kent. So that may have been her name originally, or maybe not.

She is a mystery but just maybe there could be someone of these names appearing on a baptism record in Northfleet or close by in the early 1800s.  Any help would be appreciated.

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: Lookup for Bramley

Thank you for the info.  I had noticed the Charles Kind in Bradford connection - when Priscilla married she gave her father as Charles Kind woolcomber.   I have never found a likely marriage for Maria (Kind) and William Weston - they didn't marry in Leicester and there is a chance they never married but I can't see why not.   They had a child Ann in Leicester baptised with both of them as parents using the name Weston.  However, there was another child appearing in 1861 census, Teresa, who married in Leicester using the name Kind and gave her father as William Kind!! Priscilla was her witness.  That may have indicated that Maria and William were not married and the child had to use the mother's name on the birth.

William and Hannah married in Leicester in 1828 so the two baptisms found would be their children.

I always thought there may have been other child(ren) along with Elizabeth in Yorkshire - so you have given me more information than I had expected.   Many thanks for your help and interest.  Much appreciated.

Hi, I too haven't done family history for a couple of years.   Just happened back on this site for other reasons and checked thru my earlier postings.   I do not know anything about Elizabeth Rogers so what you have is great.  I have never been able to get back from that couple.  My interest was Edward father of Edward but similarly I have not found the parents of Edward. (hope you are following this!).

Edward the parent married twice and I am from the second wife.  If you have any thoughts about Edward Snr I would love to hear them.  His second marriage was in Knighton but he may not have originated there.

The Charles you have in the list  bap. 6 April 1830 was the one that went off to Missouri and then Utah with the Latter Day Saints. Married Ann Mariah Delahay in Staffordshire.

Wow you people are fantastic.  Family actually came from Leicester and William moved back to Leicester by 1851.  His second wife was Maria and there is a child who appears in Leicester with them name of Priscilla (Kind) Weston.  She was 9 in 1851 and she also was born in Bramley.  So I am assuming that William married Maria (or maybe not) in Bramley.  Priscilla married in Leicester using the name Kind.

Does anyone have access to the parish records for Bramley.  I am looking for a death of Hannah Weston who died after 1838 (birth of last child) and was not on 41 census with husband and children.  Her husband was William and was a woolcomber.  Their first child Elizabeth was born in Bramley 1828ish.  Any help would be most appreciated.

Nottinghamshire / Re: Hawthorn of Snenton

I agree it is a fantastic name.  Unfortunately it looks like he left the wife and Nottingham area on 1901/11 censuses. I  had the marriage date.  I did have the date of Sophia's baptism - she was actually illegitimate and her father George is part of my family line having left his family in Leicester workhouse.  However, his sons went on to better things, having settled in USA - so workhouse did not hold them back!

Elizabeth Hawthorn had a sister but I never did find out what happened to her.  Elizabeth was born 1817 in Nottingham.

Leicestershire / Re: St Nicholas Church, Leicester Baptism Record

Having searched St. Nicholas baptisms there are no more registrations for the parents John and Hannah Harrison.  The only other Harrison's family registering children at Thomas and Mary until the end of 1700s.

Sorry, maybe the siblings were baptised at another city church.
