London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / George Crosswell
« on: Wednesday 11 April 07 15:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi there, I wonder if anyone can kindly help or advise me how to find what happened to a George Crosswell born Islington approx' 1854? I have his marriage certificate to my gr. grandmother (Emma Harrison)  dated 1877 in Leek, Staffs and they were living there on the census in 1881 but he has disappeared by 1891 and I can't find a trace of him. On the marriage certificate he was a builder and his father was also a George Crosswell and also a builder. I have searched Death records with no success. There is a George Crosswell on the Mexborough/Doncaster census for 1891 (born London) but I think he is too old. Was there a war about this time that he could have died in?

Any help would be so appreciated? Thanks, Jan

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Re: Deavilles Staffordshire

Hello Claire, I think we have discussed the Deavilles before on GenesReunited. Although Joseph 1775 is not my direct line I would like to tidy up him and his possible wives and children! Was Sarah possibly his third wife, as I also have records of a Joseph Deaville marrying 1) Ann (Clulow?) b1781 and 2) Hannah b1778. I have his children as: Prudence 1800-1834 (buried St Edwards church), Smith 1810, Hannah 1814 and Joseph. I also have another Joseph born 1802, bap 22 Oct 1802 died 1852 and wonder if he could have been one of his? Your views would be appreciated. Thanks, Jan

Hi there,

Many Smith Deavilles are descended from Elizabeth Smith b1740 who married John Deaville b1736 in Leek Staffs. I have Smith b.1773, Smith b.1804, Smith b.1810 and Smith b.1850 on my tree.
