Hello John, Yes, I am researching the Wilson families from Rose Cottage Sandhoe, but have slightly different information from what you listed here. The James WILSON, son of Joseph W and Jane SCOTT, according to my research, married Martha GOODMAN in Hampshire in 1815 but lived in Sandhoe. James died in 1839 and later Martha married James SCOTT. Martha and James WILSON had several children including the Robert you mentioned, William, my g-g-grandfather, Jane, Martha, and two Sarahs. William married Dorothy GALLEY in Hartlepool in 1845, had Emma, James, Jane, John Thomas (Tom) and Martha Frances (Fanny) in 1853 in Newcastle when and where Dorothy died. He later married a Mary from Lancashire but I can't find their marriage. They had two more children. They were William (I can't find) and Maud Mary who came to Australia with her step sister Emma in 1889 and I haven't heard of since.
My g-grandfather James WILSON married Mary ORD in Durham in 1871, had six children, migrated to Queensland, Australia where they had seven more. Numerous letters and photos and some certificates they brought with them have survived and have been a great source of information. Even a photo inscribed in such a way, that it could be Christina or Lucy! Maybe you will know. My great-aunt Janey was a Sister of Mercy in Newcastle and wrote great letters. In one written during WWI she mentioned that Lucy was still at Rose Cottage . This piece of info led me to Sandhoe and the rest of the family. It also uncovered the link to the Ullathornes and St Thomas More. My grandmother had 11 children and 40 grandchildren, so we are thick on the ground out here but I have had very little contact with the WILSONs in the UK. My grandfather's brother Tom married but all we have is a P/C from Greece early last century. Only James and Tom married so there were few cousins to carry on the family name, so I have to go back a generation or so to find family connections. I have photos of Rose Cottage and the WILSON tombstone at St John Lee. Best wishes, Mary
