Thank you all. I hadn't seen the census showing that Emma was born in Wales - that's really helpful to try to narrow down area, and the children's names born in Wales to see if there is some kind of pattern.
I've looked into the Emma Powell born in Radnor and there is a marriage not far away that may connect with that baptism. I'll have a look into the other Powell's marrying at St. Mary's-On-The-Hill as well.

I am certain that her maiden name is misspellt on that death certificate, and that the John Beamish and Emma Powell marriage is correct - one of her children married somebody with the surname Paull (that family were from Cornwall) so perhaps that spelling would have been familiar to them.

Did they have a son named Peter Beamish? This record gives her maiden name Paul, both parents born England- image available to view on Anc*y
