Clare / Re: Looking for Dunleavy family members

Hi RP,

Good to hear from you. Did have a few replies from people  giving me info on where to look but had just about given up on hearing from anyone with the Dunleavy surname.  I have all these odd bits of info but nothing very substantial, so your message has added some another piece to the jigsaw!

Do you have Margaret's date of birth?  I might have it somewhere if you don't.

Margaret's brother Thomas & Mary Deloughery Dunleavy are my great grand parents.  It's funny how names circulate in families - my father was an Austin Dunleavy.  I think the Patsy Dunleavy will have been one of our cousins - I think I met him once playing a penny flute at the Cliffs of Moher!

Thanks anyway - keep in touch.

Hi,
I have a note of the Griffith Valuation of 1855 which states that Michael Guerin and Denis Guerin owned land with others (including my relative) at Caherbarnagh, Liscannor, Clare.  Does this help in any way?

I am very new to all this but I know that there are O'Loughlins in Lisdoonvarna and Ennistymon, Clare.  Perhaps a connection there.

Thanks again, Dee.   I do have 2 x John Dunleavys, older than this one, in my records and think this may be a member of the extended family.

Dee

Thanks for this - I have the Dunleavys @ Kilmacrehy Parish but interested in two of the others.

Clare / Looking for Dunleavy family members
« on: Wednesday 28 March 07 15:51 BST (UK)  »
Hello everyone,

Have just started researching my family tree and wonder if anyone has Thomas Dunleavy and Frances Kinnane (married approximately 1844) in their family records - Thomas was a farmer at Caherbarna, Liscanor, Clare. Don't have a place of marriage but Thomas & Frances had at least 4 children (Thomas,John,Michael & Margaret) all born at Caherbarna betweem 1845 & 1854.  Thomas's father could be a John but who is Frances Kinnane?

Also looking for two brothers Michael & Stephen Dunleavy, born Caherbarna 1915 & 1916, last heard of in 1950s in Ireland.  Would be in their 90s now if still alive but may have children who would be my cousins.

Does this ring any bells with anyone?  Hope someone might know something or point me in right direction. Thanks.

Therese
