Worcestershire / Re: Hunt Family in Droitwich

Trish, that was the family I found, for it certainly ties in with the supposed DOB for Charles Hunt.
Harriett (or Harriet) Taylor was born either in Worcester or Dudley, depending on which census you look at. The 1901 shows her birthplace as Worcester with her eldest daughters dittoed (which is true, for they were both born within the shadow of Worcester Cathedral). In 1911, she was now apparently born in Dudley. Her age on the 1911 doesn't tally with that on the 1901. In 1901 she was 40 and was down as 49 in 1911. She died of cancer in November 1919 aged 58. Second daughter and my nan Ellen Cook (3 months married at the time) signed her death certificate.
I reckon she was born around late 1860 early 1861.

as stated in my first post - that of Charles Hunt to a Harriett Taylor, which according to the 1911 census took place around 1893/94. This is the marriage I need, as to be honest, I haven't got any info on them apart from their deaths.

Wouldn't know - I haven't traced that far back. My gt grandparents don't appear to have a marriage certificate (or so it appears). The family from Droitwich is just one I found and seems a likely match. Just need that marriage to turn up somewhere (tried everywhere on the GRO, but no luck)

Worcestershire / Hunt Family in Droitwich

Gets confusing when 1901 census says hes a Brummie and the 1911 census says hes from Droitwich. It appears that the latter is correct. I would like to know if there are any Hunts still living in Droitwich. The family I'm searching for lived in the St Peters area and worked on the land. I can't find the details (mislaid them) but the head was Thomas Hunt, wife Mary Anne Hunt and among the children were a Charles Hunt (b 1864) and a Joseph Hunt (b 1870). There were older children too including a daughter. I need to find out if anyone of these (except Charles) has any descendants living there now. Charles was my gt grandfather but his marriage to Harriett Taylor between 1893/94 didn't happen apparently (no luck on GRO) which would mean my paternal gran and all her siblings were officially illegitimate. I'm out to find anything that could lead me to anything about a marriage if it did happen and so, prove whether this particular Hunt family in Droitwich is correct. On both 1901 and 1911, hes living in Birmingham where he lived the remaining years of his life.

England / Reasons for no show on electoral lists
« on: Wednesday 30 April 08 21:34 BST (UK)  »
My grandfather Thomas Cook is proving to be a real problem. He was born in 1898 (his marriage and death certificates give ages that certainly fit) but yet he doesn't appear on the electoral lists until 1925. He was married in 1919 to Ellen Hunt who was also 21 at the time. She doesn't appear until 1928 on the electoral lists (but this is expected).

Marriage certificate details:

Thomas Cook age 21, 9ct 9 Hospital St, B'ham, father Thomas Cook
Ellen Hunt age 21, 9H Hospital St, B'ham, father Charles Hunt

Neither of their families are living at those addresses in the 1919 electoral lists. The addresses don't appear either.

I simply cannot get it - he should appear in the lists as from 1919, but doesn't.

Warwickshire / Hunts in Humberstone Rd, B'ham
« on: Thursday 21 February 08 14:17 GMT (UK)  »
Recently been searching up a lost brother of my grandmother and discovered that he lived for a good while at 58 Humberstone Road in the Pype Hayes area of Erdington. He died in 1980 and his wife continued to live there until her death in 1991. I've been checking the electoral registers in the central library, which is where I got this info. The house was occuppied by a woman of a different name in 1992. I'm just wondering if there are any other Hunts living here at present or whether anyone can remember them. Their names were William Henry Hunt and Rose Margaret Hunt (don't know maiden name). They moved there with his father (my gt grandfather) either just before WW2 or during it.

I'm looking for info on St Marys CoE, Bath Street. My aunts and uncles attended during 30s/40s and apparently my Gt Grandfather was caretaker there (despite being a bricky too). Because of the 100 year rule, documents from this time are currently restricted.
My grandmother may have attended Bristol Street school (she would have started in 1903) but registers for that year don't exist - checked at the Central Library.

The street no longer exists - replaced with Faraday House (offices) built on top of the site.

I've looked up this road on Google Map and then at the satelite image. It appears that this street no longer exits, even though current maps show it. The photo image shows a car park covering up the area where the tiny road should be. I'm going to visit the area to see for myself.
