US Lookup Requests / Re: James John Grimes
« on: Tuesday 29 May 12 18:26 BST (UK)  »
Hello Sandra,

James left the UK on lst November, 1907 and arrived in New York.

His mother was staying with her parents in  London in 1881

All the information you gave his correct, Tear is always spelt incorrectly.

There were four brothers and sister who settled in Wisconsin and  Chicago, but the brothers lived in Canada first.   Cyril drowned in the Chicago Lido in 1916.

Perhaps James died before the1920 census and never married.

Thank you for your help.

Albert Edward b 1897 possibly Woolwich died Chatham 1978 married Sarah Bane 1914 St Pancras then married Sarah Buckley 1919 Bucklow, and 1942 Chatham died 1983 Swale, Kent

Thank you for the 1881 and 1871 census,

Thought it might be in the spelling of the surname.
