New Zealand / Visiting NZ
« on: Yesterday at 02:07 »
Hi all,
I'm planning a trip with some friends to NZ's North Island.
I'm trying to combine sightseeing with researching some of my ancestors.

The name is JAMIESON.
Barr Jamieson came from Scotland aboard the Duchess of Argyle, arriving at Auckland on 9 October 1842.  With him was his wife, Ann (Pettigrew) and children; Jane, Ann, Govan and I'm not sure about any other children.

Wife Ann died in Auckland on 21 Feb 1850 due to an epileptic fit.  I believe but not confirmed that she is buried at Te Muri Cemetery.  I've also heard that I'd need permission to visit her grave as it's on private property.

Their daughter Jane is my line and she came to Australia.

The son, Govan James Jamieson and his wife Mary (nee Cooper) both died at Mahurangi Heads in 1899.
Govan is buried in the Mahurangi Heads Presb. Cemetery along with Mary.
Am wondering if there is any headstone that is clear enough to take a good photo of.
Also wondering where to get information on where the family actually lived and if there's still a house there that I can also take a photo of.
Some of their children died in Auckland and others at Mahurangi.

Over the years the family moved around and I know some are buried at Coromandel but I'm not going there unfortunately.

Also hoping some people here can give me some "local knowledge" about places too see on a budget.  Here's my basic itinery:

Staying at Ranui 2 nights
Half day visit to Whangarei to meet up with a chatter.
Then down to Mahurangi East - hopefully to see graves.

The following night will be at Ramarama.
Then across to Katikati for 2 nights.
Then we'll head down to Rotorua for 2 or 3 nights.
The next stop will be Hawke's Bay/Napier.  One of my travelling partners has some ancestry in Napier but as yet, I don't know the details.

The next stop will be Wellington.  However is there anything worth stopping for in between the two places...

After Wellington we will be staying at Oroua Downs.
Up to Brixton
Across to Tamahere and then fly home.

Somewhere I've missed a stop but not thinking straight at the moment.

I do believe that there are some JAMIESON descendants in the Hamilton area.

Would love to meet up with anyone related or not if at all possible.

Thanks in advance,

Jackie

The Lighter Side / Mini Meets (plural)
« on: Monday 27 May 24 15:43 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,
My name is Jackie and I'm on a trip to UK again from Australia.
I only have one day in London and hoping I can meet as many of you as possible, even if it's only for a meal.

I arrive at Healthrow early morning on 29th October 24 which is a Tuesday and I understand that would be inconvenient for some due to work or whatever.
Unfortunately it's the only day I'll have free as the following day I'm travelling north for my eldest son's 40th Birthday.  Contact Dave1948 to discuss it.

I'm also going to spend a day in Manchester and Jed59 will be organising the meet.  I have no idea what day it will be...I'm not even sure if he's planned it yet.  All I know is that it'll be between 3rd and 16 November.

Hope to catch up with as many of you as possible.

I'm helping a friend here in Australia.

Not sure if it's the same guy but his grandfather was John Joseph Leo Kelly.
He married a Gertrude Anastasia Long supposedly in Queensland but I can't find the marriage.
Any info appreciated.

Yes, I did that but it didn't do what I needed it to do (as per above).

UK4753,
Thanks for that but it's not working how I need it to.

I have a lady who had a relationship, then 10 years later she married another man.

I can have both Marriage and Relationship together filling out the boxes or alternatively Relationship or Marriage for both "spouses".
However, above the white boxes to fill out it says (and this is what I want to change) marriage to.....
I want that little box to say Marriage to ...name.... or Relationship to ...name...
I hope I'm making sense

Hi All,
I'm hoping someone can assist me.
I've searched high and low on FTM 2019 but for the life of me, I can't find how to show a shared fact from MARRIAGE to RELATIONSHIP or PARTNER.....
Even if I type it in as an actual added fact, the list on the right always says MARRIAGE.
I'm sure I've done this before with an older version but I do want it on the list on the right to say RELATIONSHIP.

If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it.
