The Common Room / ethel rawling

This is a huge longshot. I always remember as a child visiting what i thought was one of my grandads friends called Ethel who lived on Thornthwaite Road in Windermere.
Im now thinking after a lot of family research that she could have been related. She was definitely called Ethel, she was a similar age to my grandad born 1910. Could she have been his cousin? I dont suppose anyone knew of an Ethel living on that road in Windermere?
I was only very young at the time so didnt take much notice. Were her parents John and Amy?
Unfortunately i habe no one to ask now.
Thanks

Just wondered, before i go traipsing off to Grasmere to have a look. Would the church there hold parish records still or would they be at Kendal?
