Worcestershire Lookup Requests / Parish Registers - Old Swinford, Worcs.
« on: Friday 03 June 11 02:02 BST (UK)  »
My 3x gt grandmother, Mary Ann STEVENTON married Charles Corbett in All Saints, West Bromwich on 28 Aug 1815.  In four subsequent Census returns she is shown as born 1796-1797 in Old Swinford, Worcs.

There appear to be at least 2 STEVENTON families having children Baptised in Old Swinford at this time, John & Ann and Thomas & Sarah, however I have not managed to locate a Mary Ann to date.  There are 13 Baptisms including one Ann in 1795 and one Maria in 1801

I would much appreciate any help to comfirm her parents.

The name Steventon appears as a middle name in two grandchildren of Charles and his wife.

IGI is the International Geographical Index, transcriptions of parish records quite good but LDS Church member entries more error prone!!!

Hi Rachel

My keyname with a connection is Kendrick, Susannah (1787-1842) b. Codsall being my gtx3 grandmother.  Lots of Kendricks in the tree including some born Pattingham, e.g. Thomas Kendrick bap.  1866

Not found any Humph***** of any spelling yet though.

Who are your Staffs Kendricks?

In ancestry.com 1891 England Census house nos. 23-42 Gordon Terrace, Garston are named Stananought Cottages.  My eldest daughter has ancestors at No.24, her gtx2 grandfather's brother William Henry Drew & family.

Hi

I've just found the 'Manor House' as the home of farmer Henry Shelley, his wife Elizabeth (nee Cotton) and nine of his ten children.  I've been researching the Shelley families originating from Beacon Farm, Hopton, Staffs for several years.  There must be a reason why one of the families suddenly makes the move across several counties in the 19th century.  Who were the owners of the Manor House, A le W,  I assume Henry was a tenant farmer?
