Bigmamashouse,
I replied to your other post (Byrne), letting you know that none of my records show Joseph O'Connor, Rebecca O'Connor or Thomas Bryne. There isn't anything connecting Seamus O'Connor's father with Joseph O'Connor that I could find - sorry.  MattieMae

Bigmamashouse,
Rebecca O'Connor, Thomas Byrne and Joseph O'Connor are not part of the Seamus O'Connor family tree - as far as I can tell.  Seamus O'Connor's father was Thomas O'Connor (b 1852 - d 1936), his mother was Sarah Reilly (b1861 - d 1924)  The address you provided when replying to the Seamus O'Connor post also did not match any addresses in the family history we have to date.  Does this help you at all?  MattieMae

SimonOC,
Thank you for responding to my initial inquiry.  The records I have for your family show you have two sisters.  As far as information gathered from family letters and memories - there are many sources.  Our cousin, Marie, in Dublin compiled a history of the family and shared it in 2000.  I did not hear about it until well after the family reunion (where the book was shared) however, Marie sent me a copy.  What questions do you have?  Maybe we will be able to provide some answers - by compiling all the information at hand. You may be able to provide additional information also.  Looking forward to hearing from you.  MattieMae

Aileen,
I am in touch with Dan McGill.  His eldest daughter lives about 30 miles from our youngest daughter in Oregon.  Both his other children are alive and well.  He has been sharing information about my grandfather (amusing stories from his childhood) with me.  I am also in touch with another cousin, Terry (who traveled to Ireland with Dan for the family reunion in 2000.)  Looking forward to hearing from you.  Your cousin,  MattieMae

Aileen,
Following up on a statement made by David I checked on Ann McGill.  Anne Marie Alden (nee McGill) was born on 2 Mar 1931 and passed away on 15 May 2008 - according to the Social Security Death Records.  Her mother was Anne Genevieve McGill (nee O'Connor).  Her birth and date of death were on an earlier post.  Sorry for the confusion.  MattieMae

Aileen,
Seamus O'Connor was the eldest of ten children born to Thomas and Sara (nee Reilly).  He was born in 1882, Newton House, St. Margaret's Nth, Co. Dublin and died in 1960, Howth Road, Dublin 3.
When my grandmother and her cousins stayed with him on 7 Hollybrook Road, Dublin, in 1947 Seamus was the Sheriff of Dublin.  My grandmother's letter dated July 25, 1947 said he was attending a garden party with De Valera.  Other letters shared the day to day life in Dublin at the time (post-war), strikes and much more.  Our cousin, Marie, traced the family back to 1771 and presented the book to family member attending a reunion in 2000.  I did not know about the reunion or I would have been there.  Marie shared a copy of the book with me.  I've added more information and made corrections to the information (as was intended by Marie).  Do you want the names of Seamus' sisters and brothers?  I don't have information on His father's family but David probably does (dabirchall).  I have the history of the O'Reilly family.  Hope some of this helps.
Mattie Mae

Aileen,
Anne McGill (nee O'Connor) was born 11 Jan 1895 and died 31 Aug 1984.  Her son, Dan, was at the family reunion in Dublin in 2000.  I am in touch with his cousin, Terry (who also attended the reunion), but have not been able to reach Dan.  I have asked Terry how to contact him or his family but have not heard from her in the past couple of weeks. I will share any information I'm given. Hope this helps a little.  Your cousin,  MattieMae

Salome,
My grandfather and Seamus' mother were brother and sister.  I would be Fionnghuala's second cousin.  Seamus' mother was Sara Reilly (1861-1924).  I grew up sharing much of my early life with the O'Connor's (Seamus' sisters) who lived in the San Francisco area of California, USA.  I have many pictures of them (including one taken at my wedding with Anne, Sally and Bridget) sitting side by side.  They are all buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma, California.  My records of Seamus' family shows six children:  Sorca Marie (1912-1974), Fiacra (1913-1933), Fionnuala (1915-1995), Colm (1920-2002) Caoimhe (1922 -1926), Eibhin (1924-2003).  I have the names of two of Fionnghuala's three children.  Are they all still living? I am interested in any information you have that you would like to share and would be happy to share what I have or do research for you. David, who you directed your first reply to, is a direct descendant of the O'Connor side of the family. He is very interested in researching and sharing his family history, too.
There was a reunion of the family held in 2000 in Dublin and a book of family history written by our cousin, Marie, was shared with all in attendance.  If you are interested she has offered to send you the information she has about your part of the family history. She would need an e-mail address to send it to.  Mattie Mae

Salome,
If the information you have matches the history shared by many family members, we are cousins.  We were told that Fionnuala was born in Ireland in 1915 and died in Johannsberg, South Africa in 1995.  If that is incorrect we would like to update our records.  We show that she had two children but never had a record of any marriage.  I have the names of two children connected to her name. Seamus O'Connor was born in 1882 and died in 1960.  His son, Colm was born in 1920 and died in 2002. Colm was the eldest of six children born to Seamus and Maire.  We are looking forward to your response.  Thank you for your reply.  Mattie Mae
