I had a similar problem locating my relatives.John Watt and his brother Duncan Grant Watt. Both died in the Great War,and according to the CWGC were buried at Tomnahurich, giving plot/grave numbers, along with what turns out to be a "generic" picture of military gravestones. This fooled me and I spent hours searching for these. They are in fact buried in a family grave at the top of the hill, not far from the Cameron Highlanders memorial.I found the "office" to be quite helpful.Unfortunately no longer have the 'phone number.
Good luck!

Hi Annie,
I'd love to see the whole Watt tree if possible.I remember the Pirie connection, also a stone at Ruthven, with that name?John Watt (my ggg/father) seems to have gravitated from being a ploughman to running the post office/stores with his wife (Jane) who continued after his death along with son Charles.

Hi Annie!
Nice to have my first reply! I'm very much an amateur at all this, but have become very interested over the last year. How do you fit into this tree? In September I visited Ruthven, where large numbers of this family are buried.I was armed with plot/lair numbers but drew a blank (perhaps they were too poor to have stones erected?)
The most information I have gathered(apart from my great grandfathers family) are on his two brothers George and James who moved to Inverness, both having large families of their own. Many of their decendants are/must still be in Inverness although unfortunately none are known to me.
My late mother Alice Hirst (Macpherson) born in Inverness, must have had many relatives there, but never mentioned them,so I assume she to was unaware of their existence.... such a shame,I feel robbed!

PS Jock Watt family tree (ancestry.com)  has HUGE numbers of relatives with their details, definately worth a look!

Born Inverness 1880,son of George and Elsie Watt, believed to have been a Dentist in Chelmsford from circa 1925,and died there in 1961.I am interested in tracing any relatives,or gaining any information on the man himself.I am related to him through his uncle Alexander (Watt) of Alness,Ross and Cromarty,Scotland.

Ross & Cromarty / Margaret Sutherland & Ella Howison,Allness

The above two ladies are daughters of Alexander and Alice Watt.Alexander Watt farmed at Easter Ardross farm, and was innkeeper at the Railway/Station hotel and commercial hotel Allness in the 1880's -90's.He was tragically killed in an accident on Struie hill in  May 1894 aged 45.His widow appears to have stayed on at Easter Ardross, with his eldest daughter,Margaret taking over the reigns at the Railway hotel. She was married here in 1903 to Donald Sutherland (Allness) and then seems to disappear.Another daughter,Ella Watt married Charles Howison (army from Elgin) again at the railway hotel,Allness,in 1917 and also seems to disappear.Their mother,Alice Watt (Connor) apparently latterly took over the running of the Railway hotel until shortly before her death(Teaninich distillery cottages) in 1924.
I have knowledge of all Alexander Watts 8 children except Margaret and Ella, and would really appreciate any history or information that anyone might have.(births and deaths have drawn a blank)
