hi keiren,

Mayfield cemetery didnt open until the early 1900's, so i would assume he is buried in St Nicholas church yard.

If you can give me a couple of days i will go have a look for you, as i only live round the corner from Mayfield and about a 5 mins walk to St Nic's

regards

hi marya

thanks for your infomation, my infomation came from 1911 census, after looking for mary ellens illigit daughter, her baptism i was given from a very reliable relative whom also does family history and actually confirmed it from igi records, from there i got the 1911 census which states mary ellen clayton is living with her parents as may chadwick, as she had married by 1911 and her daughter was with her as was her other daughter through marriage.

on the census mary ellens parents were stated as george clayton and margaret married for 36 yrs, i do have this couple with children in 1901 census but cant find them before that.

the only marriage i could find was a george clayton and 2 other woman in the right time frame, i had tried lanc bmd yesterday but i got no joy, i have just tried again and bingo you are right.

so now whom is this margaret and how long have they actually been married for? if they are actually married at all

hi everyone,

I am having real difficulty in finding Mary Ellen Clayton born 1887 in bury lancashire, and her parents and siblings on the 1891 census,

Her parents names are George clayton and Margaret nee carroll on the 1911 census they are said to have been married  for 36 yrs and i have found there marriage in 1875.

on the 1901 census as 1911 George is down as being born in Lambeth london and birth year of 1856

Margaret was born in Manchester in 1857

any help would be great

thanks lou xxxx

thank you again evie

on closer inspection it looks like Low Railway Street changed its name to Rosslyn Terrace sometime before 1951, and Thomas Street still exsists today, then in between is Burdon Lane ... wow

I have a Davison family living in Low railway Street, a Lumsdon family living in Burdon lane and then Florence Davison married Stephen A Lumsdon and set up home in Thomas Street

now everything seems to fit

thanks again
