seaweed,
Sorry if my comments were unclear, your info helped fill a gap in my tree, I was "thinking out loud"
if such a thing is posible on the internet.  I have a particularly difficult branch which I am attempting to complete.  A Gentleman on my tree married 4 times and produced 8 children from the first three marriages.  Fortunately, the last marriage happened late in life both for him and the lady, so no more
to add to his considerable family.  I only had Birth, Marriage & Death on one child, the only female, so hopefully I can get more information on the remaining six males., with the help of RootsChat.
Thanks again.  South Africa was a new Country for me to find the Death of a relative.  I had a few males who were involved in the Boer War, but all of them managed to make it back safely.

Sincere thanks to all who replied, nice to know that nothing has changed on RootChat.  There was a note on the Marriage with regard to "Warrant of Sheriff Substitute of Lanarkshire dated April 18 1929"
Also "Registered 1929 April 19 at Glasgow, J. McLeod, Assistant Registrar", but it was the "By Declaration" which surprised me as I don't recall seeing it before.
I am glad I had shown his occupation as Seaman.  Could not help wondering if he was perhaps still doing that in 1939/45 and being aware of it being a very dangerous job during those years, there was a possibility he may have been a casualty.
Again, thanks to all.

Lanarkshire / Death - Archibald Cunningham Taylor - Glasgow.

Archibald Cunningham Taylor born Glasgow 22 June 1900, Married Mary Logan 18 April 1929 at
19 Howard Street Glasgow (by declaration).  Archbald was a Seaman according to Marriage info.
Any help at all will be appreciated.  Also, would someone tell me what the term "by declaration" means?

Lanarkshire / Re: Burial 1884 - McPhail Glasgow, Calton. - Completed.

I have decided to put this on the back burner for the present and would like to thank everyone who read or replied to my post for their interest.
The memento-mori site looks expensive and I would rather put my money into other things that are
on my list.  GWSFHS is a huge site and I have tried it before without success.  Unfortunately, I don't have the patience at this stage of my life, so I will leave it and move on.
Again, my sincere thanks to everyone who provided information and assistance.

sancti,
No, definitely not RC, C of S. as far back as I have gone.  I think I may be looking for a needle in a haystack here as I have just noticed on my Glasgow map that Calton is not too far from Glasgow
Cathedral and the Necropolis at that location.  Are there names available for any or all of those three
Cemeteries?

sancti, Skoosh, Joejack,
Thanks for your replies.  The Parkhead History site is very interesting, but so far as I can see does not give any information as to names and dates of burials.  Calton is, in my estimation, about half way between the Eastern Necropolis and the Southern Necropolis, so either would have been a possibility.
What I had in mind was any other smaller burial grounds in that area and wondered if anyone had a clue about that.  As a boy, one of my Grandmothers lived on Abercromby Street which runs from Gallowgate to London Road and there was a small burial ground near the London Road end.
The two individuals I am looking for are Daniel McPhail died 1 August 1884 and Robert Aitken McPhail died 10 August 1884.  I have the Death Certificates for both so the burial information is certainly not critical, just something I was curious about.  I mentioned the Riddrie Park Cemetery in my message, but don't know when that was opened.   Appreciate any comments.  Thanks again.

Lanarkshire / Burial 1884 - McPhail Glasgow, Calton.
« on: Sunday 27 October 13 17:49 GMT (UK)  »
My Mother had two Brothers (Twins) who died in August 1884.  The family were living at 5 Duncan St.
which I believe was in the Calton District.  Would anyone have any suggestions as to where they might have been buried??  During my childhood in Glasgow, most relatives who died, 1930's 40's on,were buried at the cemetery out past Brlinnie Prison, can't think of the name at the moment.  Any help will be much appreciated.  Thanks.
P.S.  That would be Riddrie Cemetery I think!  Sorry, just came to me.
