Looking for as much information on Alfrido Carlisimo/Carlesimo Frosinone DOB:@1920 parents mother Stella Maria Paolini DOB :@1900 Father Antonio Carlesimo DOB:@1900...Alfrido entered Rio de Janeiro Brazil @1949 and then he moved to São Paulo Brazil in @1950.  He was meant to have travelled to America the UK and possibly South Africa & Australia...no substantial information.  Apart from Brazil.  Any information greatly appreciated.  It is interesting he left Italy in 1949 when many escaping the allies on known escape routes to South America.. I hope someone can put some meat on the bones ....Keith

Hi Keith

I wondered if you are still looking at the Carlesimo branch of your family?

I am also from Liverpool, and have a few Carlesimo s in my ancestry tree - though, so far, not an Alfredo.  IIRC Carlesimo was not a common name, even in Italy, so the odds are that any Carlesimos in Liverpool are likely related.  My lot were originally from Casalvieri, Lazio

Someone called Emilio Carlesimo b1889 married my great great aunt in Liverpool in 1911 and had a daughter, Ellen.  He also had a brother Mario Carlesimo, who moved to Blackburn.  For reasons not clear, Emilio then fell of the face off the earth, and I think that he was presumed dead.

Around 2009, I looked into it and found that Emilio had remarried in Philiadelphia, and had a whole new family (later including the mayor of Cincinnati, I think). He died in 1981

I got in touch with some of his US relatives, who were very surprised (to say the least), and were totally unaware of a Liverpool branch of the family!

Don’t know if this rings any bells, but happy to share my ancestry tree and certificate etc if you think that there may be a link

Best regards
Neil

Hi Eileen

I have a number of Donnelly's in my family tree who lived at Hornby Street Liverpool, and the family used Our Lady Church, Eldon Street (my grandparents Amelia Donnelly and Patrick Guatella were married there in 1945).

I don't yet have a John Donnelly in my tree, but my great grandfather Stephen Donnelly (1896 - 1945) lived at Hornby Street, Liverpool.  He had at least three siblings Joseph(b1893) , William (1882), and Mary (1878), but may well have had more.  His parents were James Donnelly (a merchant seaman) from Wicklow Ireland and Ellen Moore (b1861)

I wonder if we might have a connection?

Best regards
Neil
