Bedfordshire / Re: Ann FAGE & John GOSS

Thanks David for all your efforts.  I have stored the information you sent which might be useful one I obtain further information.  Hopefully, I will get to UK sometime to check the parish registers and verify the facts.

Meanwhile, I am going to assume that John Goss (1749) married Elizabeth Angel in 1772 and married (a second time) Ann Fage (b 1767) and married in 1788.  It ties in best, for the moment, with the information I have.

Perhaps she was a gogo dancer - it might be our only claim to fame!!!

Thanks for your efforts.

Bedfordshire / Ann FAGE & John GOSS
« on: Monday 13 April 09 06:39 BST (UK)  »
Lots of Ann Fages & lots of confusion!

John Goss (b 1749 in Sandy) m Elizabeth Angel in 1772 and Ann Fage in 1788.

Up until now I had Ann Fage (b 1744 in Sandy) daughter of John Fage (b 1711( & Elizabeth Sexton (b 1717);
with children of Samuel (b 1789), Thomas (b 1790), Jeremiah (b 1793), Ann (b 1795), Sarah (b 1800), Samuel (b 1803) and Edith (b 1806).

I think I have missed a generation of Fages.  Some trees on Ancestry suggest that Ann Fage was born in 1767 and daughter of John Fage and Mary Ayres.  This would seem to be highly likely but for the fact that LDS suggests that the Ann Fage (b 1767) died in 1772.

Would appreciate any confirmation of the "facts".

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Thomas KITE information
« on: Friday 13 July 07 04:43 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for more information on Thomas Kite.  The 1841 census shows that he was married to Lucy "somebody" and had two children, Hannah (b abt 1836) and George (b abt 1840).  This family emigrated to New Zealand in November 1842.  So I am really tracing Lucy's maiden name and ancestors of Thomas and Lucy.

England / Re: Yorkshire Megsons

Thanks Frances,

There was definitely a brother, Alfred, so it looks as though you're right.  However, I wonder where Joseph was.? I have discovered that he was definitely Emma's father.  I now have to try to find out when (and by what ship) they left England.  They could have even gone to Australia first so there's still lots of missing links to tie together.

Thanks for your help.

England / Yorkshire Megsons
« on: Friday 06 July 07 00:29 BST (UK)  »

I'm tring to find out when and how Emma Megson and Joseph Megson (not necessarily together) arrived in New Zealand.  Emma was born in Dewsbury, Yorkshire in about 1849 and Joseph married Harriet Cooper in Dewsbury, Yorkshire in 1842.  None of them appear in the 1851 census or beyond.  They were definitely settled in New Zealand (Geraldine area) in the early 1860s but probably arrived much earlier judging by their non-Census appearance above.  I have searched passenger lists but so far no luck!

Bedfordshire / George PERKINS - Renhold
« on: Thursday 10 May 07 10:39 BST (UK)  »
On my grandfather's side: Thomas Sickling (Coatham, Yorkshire b 1817) married on 11 July, 1865 Susan Perkins (b abt 1826 in Renhold).  Susan's father was George Perkins who married, I think,  Eleanor ?

Also, on my grandmother's side is Charles Perkins (b abt 1831 in Renhold) married on 17 June, 1854 Rachel Mary Goss (b abt 1839 in Sandy).  Charles's father was also a George Perkins who married Eleanor Goodlife.

At this point my search comes to an end.  There are several George Perkins b in the early 1800s and more than one Eleanor so I am left a little confused.  Could it be the same George Perkins on both sides or are they unrelated?  One search suggested that George was born about 1800 and the other George born about 1811 but I was also informed that a George Perkins & Eleanor Goodlife had a Susan and a Charles amongst their children.

So the mystery is unresolved!!!!
