I'm not going to be any help to you Mike. I was going to post a similar query. My GGt grandfather cant be found anywhere either before his marriage in 1867. I've got the cert for that. It gives his fathers name and occupation and its not down as him being deceased, but I cant find him on the BMD or the census before 1871 after his marriage. I've looked for the parish records for St Peters church- Liverpool (where he married  in case he was baptized there and St Martin in the field ones as his wife came from around there and I thought he might have lived in that area as well but up to now no joy. He's in the 1870 directory but no earlier ones. His father is no where to be found on anything I've looked at.
So if anybody can help Mike as well as me I at least would be very grateful

Pesky rellies!!!!

Thanks both of you. I have just upgraded office to 2007 and apparently thats what is causing it. I found a link http://www.snapfiles.com/download/dlspelloe.html  That puts American english on as the spellchecker, so that will do for now.

Technical Help / Windows XP
« on: Sunday 18 February 07 13:33 GMT (UK)  »
I have just bought a legit copy of windows XP after having used a fake copy since I got the PC!!  :-X I have been using Professional up to now but have now got the home edition. what I would like to know is can anybody help me to put it on. I realise I have to backup everything I have on at the moment, fortunately I have an external hard drive that everything can go on. When I put the new CD on will it automatically wipe everything off the hard drive before installing the home edition or do I need to uninstall everything myself first.  I'm reasonably competant on the PC but a bit scared that I will mess everything up. Thanks for any help  ::)
