Thanks for that, Martyn. I have heard of a Thomas Allen before, would like to think he is the previous generation but will have to investigate further. Anything else you come up with would be interesting, but I know it's a long time ago.

Could you tell me if there is any mention of an Allen family in your book? My ancestor Joseph was born in Hazelwood about 1774 & the family later moved to Duffield

Many thanks

I have found a freeBMD entry for 4th quarter 1852 for Aylesbury for a William Mander. Could some kind person see if they can find a church marriage to a Mary Stafford? The BMD says Stratford so I cannot be sure it's correct.
Thanks

Thanks very much for that! Doesn't sound like it was a particularly pleasant place to live at that time.

Could anyone tell me where in Dudley was Caddicks End? My g g grandmother was living there when she had her first child in 1853.

Thanks very much for looking, both of you. I'll have to have another look at Notts. 4 children born in Sneinton, Nottm, but couldn't find a marriage when I looked at registers. Guess I'll never find out what Jane's name was!

Hi Heather,

Thanks very much for that, it seems to be the likely one, as there are Basford connections. Have you any other information on that marriage?

Best wishes,

I am looking for the marriage of William Rose to Mary Ann for the period 1835-1838 approx. If anyone can help me find a surname for Mary Ann I would be very grateful.  I think they were both in their early twenties.

Many Thanks
