It is their daughter, Emma Masling born c 1857 that I am seeking information on in particular. Although I also need information on her siblings.
Emma married a Robert Jeffries in 1890 in St Albans and this is the connection I am trying to find more information on. Emma and Robert had 3 children that I am aware of at present, Henry c 1892, Percy c 1893 and Horace c 1896 all born in St Albans.
Hi Lilian
Welcome to rootschat!
What did you want to know about Emma Masling & Robert Jeffries?
Send me a PM with as many details as you can that you've already got and I'll see what I can find in the St Albans records
Julie
Hi Julie
Thanks for the welcome, I've been a bit busy, so I have only just got back to the Masling family.
I have now got a birth certificate for Emma Masling born 8/6/1855 at Broad Colney Shenley. Her parents are John Masling and Emma Masling nee Olney. So I'm looking for any information on siblings to Emma with these parents. The 1861 census shows a brother John born c 1851, Jane c 1853, Thomas c 1858 and William c 1860. All these children are born in Shenley. I have found the baptisms for these children on the LDS site, also a possible sibling Elizabeth baptised 7 June 1863. I will need to check out the 1871 census onwards for these siblings as well as try and track marriages.
I have obtained the marriage certificate for Emma to Robert Jeffries on 18 Oct 1890 at the Parish Church, St Peters, St Albans. I have found 3 of their children as mentioned before, in the 1901 census, Henry R (obert) I think, c 1892, Percy c 1893 and Horace c 1896 all born in St Albans. The family is living at 40 Inkmark Rd, St Peter, St Albans, in 1901 - I'm not sure yet whether I have the correct spelling for the name of the road.
I am hoping to track down any other children of the marriage of Robert Jeffries to Emma Masling who presumably would have been baptised in the St Albans area. Although there may not be any more - Emma is 9 years older than Robert. She was 35 when she married Robert in 1890. They lived in Spencer St, St Peters St Albans at the time of the marriage.
I also know that Robert's father Henry Jeffries was a fishmonger in St Albans.
It also appears that Emma had a couple of children out of wedlock Albert Masling born 4 June 1877, and Amy Masling born c 1879 (who died died at Inkerman Rd on 15 December 1896). I have not been able to locate Albert yet in the 1881 census or later.
I haven't been able to locate any deaths for either Robert or Emma Jeffries yet, and I don't know what happened to their 3 boys I have found so far , no baptisms, - I'm also wondering whether they went to WWI.
Many thanks for the offer I really appreciate this.
Lilian
