Hello Craig,
Yes I know my post was a long time ago, but I'm still researching. Thanks for your message.

I have James 1776 married to Eleanor  in my tree, but am happy to be proven wrong.

Was your James born in 1758 or 1776? I Have James  b1758  the son of Joseph and Susannah Williams, and James 1777,  nephew of James 1758 and  son of  John  1760 and Sarah Moulson.

I am an Australian 4th great grandaughter of John trying to piece together a Nichols tree. You will notice that the spelling in Aust has been changed to Nichols.

I look forward to your reply,
Yvonne

Hello Laura,

Thanks for your reply. It has been many years since I posted and I had almost given up on  finding more about the descendants of Thomas and Martha. Martha was the sister of my late husband's great great grandfather, and I (as family historian) have been researching the family for about 35 years, and have quite an extensive Withington tree. We have photo of Thomas and Martha and Family.

I would be happy to share my tree and if you care to fill me in on Martha's descendants You can contact me off line at  lwithing@bigpond.net.au

Greetings, Yvonne

No I don't say that is not right. What I said was that I believed  Robert to be the brother of my ancestor . Children in my Smith family were born in 1795, 1798 and 1800 and there are baptisms for them. It was not uncommon ( but very annoying for us) for parents to omit to baptise one or more of their children.
Great Hasely today is very small.....I find it hard to believe that it was ever very big... so what was the likelihood of it having more than one extended family with the same name .. even if it was Smith!  So the parents of Robert may well be Thomas and Lydia. I'm sorry if I misunderstood and took it that looking for a birth or baptism also meant looking for parents. Do you definitely know the parents?
If you are looking for them...and don't think they are Thomas and Lydia. The IGI has a Robert Smith
born 21 April 1803 and baptised 22 May 1803 at Chesham, Bucks... not too far away to Thomas and Hester (Stevens) I suppose you have seen it.

Thomas SMITH and Lydia HARRISON married at Great Hasely in 1795 and had 4 ( not 9) children: John , Jane , Mary Ann, Robert.  Mary Ann married in Bucks in 1824. I haven't found a birth for Thomas, but I think Lydia was from Duston, Northants. Smith is a VERY hard to research and I am now hopeful of getting them sorted out!

A bit off- topic, but I see that William Smith of Pyrton had cow-pox 3 times between 1780 and 1794!

Hi Alan and others.
I believe that  Robert SMITH  (one of 9 children of Thomas and Lydia born at Great Hasely) is the brother of my ancestor Mary Ann .
I  hope you are still contactable , as your post is 3 years old!

Hi  bobslot,
I am always happy to share. What would you like to know? My last  NEWITT born in LB was Adam 1789, parents John and Phoebe MALKIN . It IS a large family, and I have managed to trace them out of LB to Crick in the 1500's. I would say that those in surrounding villages are also related.
However I do not have any of those mentioned in this chatroom. I am always looking to add more people to my tree.
