I am looking for information on the McKENZIE family from Kirkcudbright/Durrisdeer area. I have a JAMES McKENZIE who was married to CATHERINE BROWN and had 6 children:
Jennet
Andrew
Alexander
William
Mary
Agness
I have been unable to find any details on Catherine or a marriage date for James and Catherine. It is "thought" that James was the son of ANDREW McKENZIE and SARAH DARGAVEL (i have yet to find proof of this).
Alexander was "sent" to Tasmania in 1839.
James and Jennet, William, Mary and Agness went to Canada/America to live.
Andrew stayed in Scotland and married JANE SMALL.
I am looking for any information I can find on the family of Andrew and Jane.
Also any information that might be found on the mother Catherine and on the family of James McKenzie.
I have a letter written by Andrew to Alexander dated 1857 and he mentions the siblings names and the fact that they and "father" went to live in Toronto. Also father inherited 1000 pounds from an "Uncle" who died in England also father's siblings received the same said money. There were other names mentioned in the letter as being "uncle Andrew" and "Uncle Thomas Edgar".
I am hoping that these names might be of use to find more on the family of James McKenzie.
Thanking you,
