Antrim / Re: Hutchinson of Ballymena
« on: Friday 03 June 22 11:40 BST (UK)  »
Hi Cheryl,
I am sorry I was not able to see your post in 2019. Yes I am the relative now living in Queensland. My grandfather Nathaniel was the son of Henry who came to Australia with the Andrew Hutchinson family in 1839.
It would be good to make contact now in May 2022

Thanks
David

Looking for information re Hutchinson from Ireland, Particularly the Ballymena to Ballymoney from years 1700  T0 1900. Have come across a brickwall on my  line being Andrew Hutchinson, Jane Miller and Esther McNiece  living in or around Ballymena in 1820,

Looking for information or links about the Hutchinson family in years 1750-1840  from around Ballymena / Kirkinriola / Craigs or further out. They would have been Presbyterians. Some  family members were boot and shoemakers. As per usual the name may have various spellings.

The Common Room / Re: Death of RootsChatter: 'Christopher'
« on: Saturday 11 July 09 12:24 BST (UK)  »
I came on line to night and seeing there were no new posts since 12 May  from Christopher, who was  extremely prolific in posts. My first thought was something surely has happened to Christopher. It was then with great sadness that I  learned of his passing. I met Christopher when I was at PRONI whilst visiting in Ireland in 2007. Having come over from Australia  for a holiday, it was a treasured experience, to sit down and chat over lunch with such a knowledgeable man. He is surely missed.

Antrim / Belfast meet
« on: Thursday 09 August 07 09:05 BST (UK)  »
Thanks to Scotsmum at Ballymena and Christopher at PRONI who were able to meet up with me while I was in the Belfast area. When searching for your roots its like a jigsaw and some pieces turn up and fill the right space while others are still waiting to be picked up and some you think belong turn up to be the wrong piece. Maybe i should look at another part of the jigsaw for awhile  Anyway I hope to be back some day and to spend more time enjoying your part of the world.

G'day to all of you out there,

Sorry to hear that the interest for the Belfast meet fell by the way. Anyway we are over here now so if anyone sees 3 Aussies with a toddler wandering around your great country, then come and say G'day.
We will be in the northern parts this weekend and if anyone wants to meet up with us then please reply via personal message. I hope to find out more of the Hutchinson's who came from Ballymena in 1838,so if anyone can assist that would be great.

Hello Chris,

That must have been very disappointing to have only 6 out of 60 possibilities attending the Dublin meet.
How many definites have you got for the Belfast meet?  Now we have come up from from Australia we are not likely to be backing out. Those that are coming should list what they would like to do.
Maybe it could be weekend meet and hire a bus, provided there are sufficient numbers to have an extended tour around Belfast etc.
We need to know where we should be meeting up.

We will be in Ireland and will now have my daughter inlaw and 20month old and very active grandchild with us. At the moment we are not planning to be around Belfast befor 28th. But that may change depending upon what response you have and my families priorities. We are still open to ideas and suggestions of what to do.
thanks Chris for your help.
