Thank you Andy for your excellent reply 👍🏻
I will give the MOD a try, and then the TNA. If I get no joy, I might just have to wait for the TNA to process the records.

Kind regards,
Paul

Armed Forces / Joseph Scott, East Yorkshire Regiment
« on: Thursday 07 November 24 20:35 GMT (UK)  »
Good evening,
I really hope that someone can help.
I am trying to find information about one of my ancestors who was in the East Yorkshire Regiment in 1939.
He was Joseph Scott, born 27th March 1921 in Wheatley Hill, Co. Durham.
In the 1939 Register, he is recorded being at home 'on leave', Private 4140, in Wheatley Hill, Co. Durham.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Yours faithfully,
PC Johnson

Lilian married John (Jack) Crutchley in the late 70s.
Joseph 'Lester' Johnson was my granddad' Tom's brother. They have a sister, Norma.

Many thanks Carole,

Lilian was my great grandmother. A wonderful woman, and I have James Victor Johnson as her first child who sadly died as an infant, but my grandfather's name was Thomas. They divorced in 1949. Where did you find the name Joseph.

Joseph & Lilian appear to have had a son in 1937 - see freebmd

The family can be found on the 1939 register so any divorce was after 1939

Lilian died in 2007 as Crutchley

Good afternoon genealogists,
Is anyone able to help me find the mother of my 1st cousin 1x removed.
He is M A Johnson. His father was James Richard Johnson who lived in 16 Harbottle Avenue, Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne in 1967, but also from the County Durham area.
Many thanks

Durham / Re: Desperately Seeking Mary Jane

If he was only born in 1901 - his marriage would be in the 1920's so have you checked freebmd for a marriage?

He did marry in 1930 to a Lillian Thompson, but they divorced, and I only found out about this marriage when I got the will. I have his BMD certificates and they all match, but I need to find this new marriage certificate.
I did a search for the boys via Freebmd, but had no joy.

Durham / Desperately Seeking Mary Jane

Hi all,
I am desperately hoping that someone get help get over a hurdle.

I have just received a last and testament of one of my great grandfathers, and instead of giving me answers, it's just thrown up more questions.

He is/was Thomas Johnson born 1901 Wheatley Hill, Co.Durham and died 1970 in Hartlepool.

Hi will says that he was married to Mary Jane Johnson and had two sons, James Richard Johnson and Kenneth William Johnson. It also names his brother Robert Johnson and his  grandson, Martin Andrew Johnson, son of James.

What would really like to know is what was the maiden name of Mary Jane. I would like to get their marriage certificate.

Any help would be appreciated.
